Kayaking Columbia River Gorge Punchbowl Falls
My girlfriend and I went to do the beautiful 4mile in and out hike to punchbowl falls the other day and these guys from Montana State University had hiked their boats in to run it. It was really to watch. They were out touring around the Pacific Northwest looking for this stuff, and obviously finding it. :)
Eagle Creek, Oregon - Punchbowl Falls hike
Family trip near Hood River, Oregon led us too Eagle Creek to check out one of the trails. We had an awesome time as a family and the hike wasn't too difficult to do even with children. Absolutely breathtaking scenery and an all around great time. This particular hike ended up being about 5 miles from our car to the waterfall and back to the car so definitely not too long.

Beautiful Punchbowl Falls and People Swimming There
I made the hike to Punchbowl Falls to make the 70 foot jump above the hidden pool, but I was not ready to pay a $300 dollar fine for doing it. This vidio shows some of the people who went swimming there. Even though the water is cold, I didn't think it was that bad. Tamalitch Blue Pool is much colder! We have been cliff jumping at Brice Creek and the water is about the same temperature. This area is a must see, both journey on the Eagle Creek Wilderness Path and Punchbowl Falls. I want to go back and hike to the lake next time.
Jumping Punch Bowl Falls
Oscar and I jumping Upper Punch Bowl Falls on Eagle Creek in the Columbia River Gorge. Wikipedia says the waterfall is 35 feet, so we figure the jump is about 70 feet.

Punch Bowl Falls Hike - Eagle Creek Trail, Oregon | VLOG 00
VLOG #00 - My unofficial first vlog!
Here's a video of my June 2017 hike to Punch Bowl Falls, part of the Eagle Creek Trail in Oregon. I drove from Portland to the trailhead on a beautiful, cool, and sunny summer morning. This trek was everything that I wanted in a hike - lush green landscapes, breathtaking mountains and cliffs, and of course...a beautiful waterfall!
The water at Punch Bowl Falls was FREEZING cold! It must have been 45F degrees or less. I wanted to walk closer to the falls, but my feet probably would have fallen off!
Enjoy!

Hood River, Oregon
Check out the newer green space in Hood River along the Columbia Gorge waterfront. Swimming area, beach, playground, bathrooms, picnic tables, and more.
Walking under a waterfall in Columbia river gorge
I filmed this yesterday on a hike in the gorge near Bonneville dam about 30 miles east of Portland Oregon. As usual the sound is not at all how it was since a digital camera maxes out and only records white sound. The actual sound was more of a roar and deeper rumble. This return to the falls was important for me because about 12 years ago sick on chemo and radiation I told friends in Florida about the hike and that I was sort of homesick that I would never see hikes like that again. Well it turned out I did and I appreciated it more than ever especially because now armed with modern technology I could relay some of the outdoors I grew up with to the people in Florida and elsewhere. This is only one clip--I will be uploading several patched together of the hike.
Wahclella Falls
Wahclella Falls receives far fewer visitors than the average Columbia River Gorge waterfall, perhaps due to lack of stature and visibility, as well as length of hike. The second and most visible 60-foot drop of the falls occupies a peaceful grotto at the end of a deep canyon. Although it is often overlooked by hikers feeling the need for more exercise, Wahclella rates as high as any hike in the area in terms of beauty, if not distance.
