Puerto Madryn Argentina ,Punta Tombo, Magellan Penguins Colony in Ultra 4k
Version en français plus bas
The planet is facing the sixth extinction of species of plants and animals of its existence.
This is a first since the disappearance of the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago: humanity is facing a major extinction of species of fauna and flora in all regions of the world which points to the overexploitation of the planet .
The Reserve and its penguins
Punta Tombo is a narrow, rocky strip into the sea about 3.5 km. Its wide beaches have a gentle slope that leverage the penguins to make their nests. In 1979 the province of Chubut declared Wildlife Reserve to protect the Magellanic Penguin and the species that live with them.
Birds arrive here every year to nest, mate, have offspring and mutate to then start back to the northeast of South America and cyclically return the following year. Visitors are amazed watching how they move back and forth looking for their nests or running after their chicks.
Penguins are marine birds. They have wings but do not fly as they are adapted for swimming. It is that these birds spend most of their lifes in the water, they even sleep in it. When swimming they can reach a speed of 8 km per hour, although jumping over the water in short sections outgrow this speed.
Punta Tombo, Madryn With their characteristic walking, penguins emerge from the sea and head for their nests.
An adult penguin is about 50 centimeters and weighs about 5 kilograms. The plumage that characterizes the species is the white breast, black back and a black and white double collar. The vocalization of adult penguins is like a bray. It is used to ward off strangers and attract mates. Instead the young, with a chirping and whistling continued, ask for they deserve food.

On our second day in Puerto Madryn we made an excursion to Punto Tombo. Here we visited a large pinguin colony, beautiful! After that we also went to a beautiful and not touristic beach. On our way back to Puerto Madryn we visited a lake with flamincos and other birds, I think it was in the surroundings of Chubut.

Argentina - Puerto Madryn - Punta Tombo (parte1)

Fascinating Argentina - The Penguins of Punta Tombo
From October to March, thousands and thousands of Magellanic penguins gather on the Atlantic coast of Argentina in Punta Tomba, the largest accessible penguin colony in the world. An unforgettable nature experience, watching the penguins waddling in search of their nests. Between bushes, on pebble banks, on the beach, in earthworks, penguins are everywhere, young animals are screaming and begging for food or just lying around. Absolutely a highlight of any trip to Argentina. On the approximately 3 km long, 600 m wide rocky headland are also numerous cormorants, seagulls and other seabirds.
