New Zealand: Purakaunui Falls
The Purakaunui Falls are a cascading multi-tiered waterfall on the Purakaunui River, located in the Catlins in the southern South Island of New Zealand.
A highly distinctive cataract, it is an iconic image for southeastern New Zealand, and was featured on a New Zealand postage stamp in 1976.
The falls are located 17 km (11 mi) to the southwest of the small town of Owaka and five kilometres (3 miles) from the river's outflow into the Pacific Ocean. They can be reached via a short, well-signposted bush walk from a gravel side-road off the main Owaka-Invercargill road.
The falls are in an isolated area surrounded by native bush in a scenic reserve of 5 km² (2 sq mi), and fall 20 m (66 ft) in three tiers.
There have been many pictures taken of the Purakaunui Falls over the years and they are now considered to be the most photographed set of falls on the South and North Islands of New Zealand.
Waterfalls in New Zealand!
We set out for the day to explore waterfalls in the south island of New Zealand! We first started with Purakaunui Falls and then attempted to go over to McLean Falls, but it was unfortunately closed!
We ended the day by stumbling upon a magnificent campsite right on the beach! Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed!
You can follow me on instagram if you want, @LucasCatania, and I will see you all in the next video!

Waterfalls in The Catlins - South Island, New Zealand
The Catlins are one of New Zealand’s best off the beaten path attractions. Located in the far south of the South Island, you won’t find the average pace-setting tourist here. You don’t have dramatic mountains or glaciers, but the Catlins feature beautiful cascading waterfalls.
On this trip we visited some of the many waterfalls in The Catlins, the Purakanui falls, Matai Falls and the McLean Falls.

South Island, New Zealand JUCY Road Trip '19 | Dunedin & Catlins | Pt 1
Join my sister and I on an epic New Zealand JUCY winter road trip of the South-East Coast of the South Island! We drove from Christchurch Airport to Oamaru, played with the Moeraki Boulders, saw the Dunedin Railway Station, did an awesome wildlife tour along the Otago Peninsula, went to Nugget Point Lighthouse and Purakaunui Falls in the Catlins and tried some Southland cheese rolls before hitting up Queenstown!
Coming in Part Two are our Queenstown adventures and doing an incredible day trip to Milford Sound!
Thanks so much to JUCY World for another epic road trip! Our campervan was the JUCY Chaser
The wildlife tour we did:
Check out last year's JUCY road trip vlog in QT, Glenorchy, Wanaka and Mount Cook:
Notes on the heater: JUCY offer a heater to hire when you pick up the van but they forgot to mention it to us. I thought it was already included so forgot to ask too. After our first freezing night, we just bought a cheap one from The Warehouse along with hot water bottles which kept us toasty warm for the rest of our trip! Totally recommend using powered sites in winter - it's just too cold otherwise.

Huka Falls, New Zealand/Водопад Хука, Новая Зеландия
Водопад Хука самый большой водопад на реке Вайкато, возле Таупо, на северном острове Новой Зеландии. Каждую секунду около 220,000 литров воды льётся потоком через ущелье.
The Huka Falls are the largest falls on the Waikato River, near Taupo on New Zealand's North Island.
Every second up to 220,000 litres of water gushes through the gorge and shoots out over 8 metres beyond to create a beautful blue/green pool.
The name Huka is the Maori word for 'foam', which is appropriate as the falling water and rapids certainly resembles foam, especially under flooding conditions.
Huka Falls is located in Wairakei Park. This is only a short 5 minute drive north of Lake Taupo.
