Iran - Qeshm Island
These are a collection of clips taken at Qeshm island, off the coast of Bandar Abbas in Southern Iran. Other than its attractive beaches and magrove forests, the island is also home to the minority Bandari people.
Qeshm island retains some of the traditions that many other parts of the Persian Gulf have lost. In this video you will see the construction of old 'lenj' vessels, wooden cargo boats that used to criss cross the Gulf. There's also some shots of a small fishing village.

Qeshm Island Amazing Destination - Iran
Qeshm Island is located a few kilometers off the southern coast of Iran (Persian Gulf), opposite the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Bandar Khamir.
Historical records concerning the Qeshm island date far back into the pre-Islamic era. Names as Qeshm, Keshm, Kish and Tunb mark the lengthy stay of Ilamids in the area, several centuries BC. It is, apparently, the island called Alexandria or Aracia by Ptolemy (Book 6, Chap. IV), in the 2nd century CE and as Alexandria by Ammianus Marcellinus (xxiii.6.42) in the 4th century. On account of its strategic geopolitical situation, near the mouth of the Persian Gulf, it has been frequently attacked by invaders including Ilamids (Elamites), Umayyads, Abbasids as well as the Portuguese and the English. During Sassanian Empire administration the island was called Abarkawan. According to historical records, Qeshm Island has been famous as a trade and navigation center. Its economy flourished during the Dailamites and Buyid eras, as trade vessels sailed between Qeshm Island and China, India and Africa.
Explorer William Baffin was mortally wounded on Qeshm in 1622 during a battle against Portuguese forces who occupied the fort, known to them as Forte de Queixome.
Qeshm is also a supposed site of the Garden of Eden according to Cassells Bible

Hengam Island, Lenj boats shipyard in Gouran, Namakdan Salt Cave, Qeshm, Iran
Lenj shipyard is situated in Gouran on Qeshm, the largest island in the Persian Gulf, this is the last place where a traditional wooden cargo boat known as the Lenj is still constructed. This practice harks back to an age-old way of life. The Bandari locals here still wear traditional dress, live in houses cooled by badgirs (wind towers) and build boats by hand, plank by plank, without blueprints.

Mangrove forests of Qeshm Island, Persian Gulf, IRAN. Video by BAHADOR HADIZADEH
The Mangrove forests of Qeshm or Hara forests of Qeshm are the mangrove forests on the southern coast of Iran, particularly on and near the island of Qeshm in the Persian Gulf. Dominated by the species Avicennia marina, known locally as the hara or harra tree, the forests represent an important ecological resource. The Hara Protected Area on Quesm and the nearby mainland is a biosphere reserve where commercial use is restricted to fishing (mainly shrimp), tourist boat trips, and limited mangrove cutting for animal feed.

Rural Iran - Shots from the Countryside
Iran is a vast country, with large cities, small villages, high mountains, and arid deserts. This video shows some of the rural places that I came across during a 5 week visit. Shepherds in the desert and on snowy hilltops, men making bread in a small village, women picking tomatoes in the fields, men collecting and processing wheat, and some more.
Wheat, barley, and rice are major crops in Iran. But the wide range of temperatures and different climatic conditions make cultivation of large numbers of other crops possible as well. Fruits that are particularly popular are dates, figs, pomegranates, grapes and melons. Livestock is dominated by sheep, but also includes other animals such as goats and cattle.
Since the 1990s, Iran has been self sufficient in food production, after a period of struggle and shrinking output.

Iran Hormozgan Bandar Abbas luxury city
Bandar Abbas has always been a port, and as such its various names have all addressed this function. The most common name over time (Gameroon) has traditionally been said to derive from Persian gümrük, customhouse (from Late Greek kommerkion, from Latin commercium, commerce), but is now speculated to be from Persian kamrūn, shrimp (which in Portuguese is camarão, similar to the former Portuguese name).[4] Its current name is derived from that of Shah Abbas I [5] paired with 'port.'
