I drove in Qilian Mountains, China on Oct 13, 2019. Along the way we saw large yak and sheep flocks, as well as Tibetan dogs. Especially, we saw a flying golden sculpture on a snowy mountain, which really looks like a kite. We also passed the Datongshu Mountain Pass at an altitude of 4120 meters. A very enjoyable driving trip!
The Qilian Mountains are 800 kilometers long from east to west and 200-400 kilometers wide from north to south. It is to the south of Hexi Corridor, is a northern outlier of the Kunlun Mountains, forming the border between Qinghai and the Gansu provinces of northern China. The Qilian Mountains consist of a number of parallel mountains and wide valleys that run from northwest to southeast. Its altitude is 4000-6000 meters, it has a total of 3306 glaciers, and its area is about 2062 square kilometers.

门源油菜花是指青海省海北藏族自治州的门源县一种美丽而蔚为壮观的人造景观。门源县是北方小油菜发源地，是全国乃至全世界最大的小油菜种植区，种植面积达50万亩。这里油菜花的种植范围是，它西起浩门河畔的青石嘴，东到大通河畔的玉隆滩，北到与甘肃省交界的冷龙岭，南至高峻的大坂山，绵延数十公里。
Menyuan rapeseed refers to a beautiful and spectacular man-made landscape in Menyuan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Menyuan County is the birthplace of small rapeseed in the north. It is the largest small rapeseed planting area in the country and the world, with an area of 500,000 mu. Here, the cultivation range of rapeseed is that it starts from Qingshizui on the banks of the Haomen River in the west, to the Yulong Beach on the Datong River in the east, to the Lenglongling on the border with Gansu Province in the north, and to the Dagu Mountain in the south, stretching for dozens of kilometers.
