The Busy Center of Yushu, China on The Eastern Tibetan Plateau
One last day in very interesting Yushu before hitting the road again into Sichuan Province. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone creating noodles from scratch every morning for breakfast? Or, concocting little dumplings filled with vegetables or meat? Oh well...back to my Total cereal...
I tried to research cutasept...the little twiggy things picked in the pasturelands and sold for medicinal purposes in the Tibetan region. Found very little information other than it is used as a disinfectant. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

First, we'd like to show the world with this exhibit that Tibet is an inalienable part of China. The Dalai (Lama) supporters have been spreading rumours of China damaging Tibetan culture for their purpose of splitting the motherland, but this exhibit can prove to you that Tibetan culture is not damaged in the last 50 years, but well protected.

As long as the ongoing construction of Qinghai-Tibet railways, energy and telecommunications, I believe the connection of Tibet with the innerlands will be tighter and the affinity between Tibetan and Chinese peoples will be strengthened.

STORYLINE:
An exhibition of treasures from Tibet is pulling in the crowds at China's National Museum of History in Beijing.
The month-long exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of what China calls the peaceful liberation of Tibet and serves to reinforce Beijing claims that it is doing all it can to preserve Tibetan culture.
Beijing has been struggling to quell separatist sentiment in Tibet since communist troops arrived in the Himalayan region in 1950.
A towering scale model of the Potala Palace, once home to the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama who now lives in exile, is one popular element of the exhibit which features more than 140 historical relics, some seen for the first time.
A large portion of the exhibit is devoted to Tangka, the ancient Tibetan art form of scroll painting.
The oldest relics on display date back four-thousand years to the Neolithic age.
Museum officials describe the display as a panorama of history and religion in Tibet which manifest artistic gems and historic changes.
Buddhist statues of various dynasties from the eighth century to the Qing Dynasty as well as exquisite porcelain and imperial utensils are on display.
Among the most treasured relics is a 174 centimetre piece of ivory carved with 21 groups of figures illustrating the ascetic practices of Sakyamuni, founder of Buddhism.
Crafted from a single elephant tusk, this relic was kept in Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama.
The exhibition also highlights Beijing's ongoing drive to bring Tibet out of its geographic and economic isolation and counter criticism that the majority Han Chinese seek to dilute Tibet's cultural purity.

The grand mosque of Xining / La grande mosquée de Xining (Qinghai - China)
(EN) Xining is the capital of Qinghai province in western China, and the largest city on the Tibetan Plateau. It has 2,208,708 inhabitants at the 2010 census whom 1,198,304 live in the built up area made of 4 urban districts.
The city was a commercial hub along the Northern Silk Road's Hexi Corridor for over 2000 years, and was a stronghold of the Han, Sui, Tang, and Song dynasties' resistance against nomadic attacks from the west. Although long a part of Gansu province, Xining was added to Qinghai in 1928. Xining holds sites of religious significance to Muslims and Buddhists, including the Dongguan Mosque and Ta'er Monastery. The city lies in the Huangshui River valley, and owing to its high altitude, has a cold semi-arid climate. It is connected by rail to Lhasa, Tibet and Lanzhou, Gansu.

Alongside the south bank of the Lhasa River, the building is set up for the performance of Princess Wen Cheng, a show focusing on the Tang (618-907) princess who married King Songtsan Gampo and promoted economic, social and cultural exchanges between the Han people and the Tibetan ethnic group.

The five-story Tibetan-style building broke ground in July 2012, and covers an area of more than 20,000 square meters, which is equipped as a comprehensive open-air theater with a high-tech stage artistic design.
The stands can hold about 3,000 people, and the lights can change background images to show mountains, palaces and temples.
