This train took us down into the slate mine to start our Victorian Mine Tour. This tour is the main attraction at Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

This video is about me and a team exploring abandoned mines in Wales here's a little history.A slate roof adorning the Roman fort at Segontium marked the beginning of the Welsh slate industry, which exploded onto the world scene during the Industrial Revolution. Throughout much of the 18th and 19th centuries, Welsh slate was unequaled on the world stage, and the Oakley mine at Blaenau Ffestiniog was the largest of its kind on earth. But today, most slate quarries lie abandoned.
