Making Waves - Behind the Scenes in Great Yarmouth
Local hotelier, Aileen and her husband have run The Imperial Hotel in Great Yarmouth for more than 30 years, and she has been at the helm of the popular Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival since its inception more than 15 years ago.
Together with a dedicated crew of committee members, Aileen has masterminded the popular Maritime Festival weekend since its inaugural event in the year 2000, co-ordinating stall holders, ship’s captains, caterers, street artists, exhibitors, demonstrators, exhibitors and the many volunteers who all come together to showcase the town’s fascinating maritime past and ongoing maritime industry.
Great Yarmouth is a town whose very existence has been shaped by the sea over the centuries, evolving from a sandbank to busy fishing and market town, then supplying the North Sea oil and gas industry and now heavily involved in the supply and support of the wind energy sector. Festival-goers can find out all about it with the various demonstrations and exhibitions all along South Quay, including bang up to date displays from some of the festival sponsors who are part of the town’s fascinating off-shore industry.
It’s no mean feat to organise the two day festival, which takes place on the town’s South Quay every September, but the pleasure derived from seeing the happy faces of so many festival goers and the pride in the town’s maritime heritage is just one of the many reasons that drives Aileen and her team on.

Liverface Live At The Lacon Arms Great Yarmouth
This is Liverface's full set live at The Lacon Arms in Great Yarmouth as part of the PsychoMongos christmasy 4th event.
Apologies for the sound during the majority of the set, there were some issues with one speaker to begin with and the issue didn't get sorted until Liverface's last track.
Further apologies for the sound due to the venue size I had to set up right behind one of the speakers.

Gloucester Quays Classic American and Hotrod Meet
Spent the a few hours checking out this local meet, I wasn't too sure what to expect before I got there but there was a fantastic range of cars, some were neither American or hotrods but still very nice and clearly the owner's pride and joy.
The meet didn't start until after 7 so it got dark very quickly but I got some good footage anyway.
Hope you enjoy a slightly different style of car from my usual content.

MV Coronia - Scarborough 1960's (Historic Ferry)
Here's a Home Movie of Scarborough's Ferry, the Coronia filmed in the late 1960's. This historic ship was filmed in Scarborough.
The MV - CORONIA was built as BRIT by Fellows & Co., Great Yarmouth, in 1935 for Longfield Brothers, who offered excursions from Great Yarmouth's Town Hall Quay and Britannia Quay. She was licensed to carry 200 passengers and spent her first five summers taking holidaymakers out to see the seals basking on the sandbanks along the north sea coast of Norfolk. She was powered by twin Crossley diesels. Following the outbreak of war, she was requisitioned by the Admiralty on 16 September 1939 for service as a tender. Renamed WATCHFUL, she became the base ship for the fleet and was repainted in battleship grey. She carried stores and torpedoes to the destroyers lying in Yarmouth roads, her bar became the wardroom for her officers and she had a gun turret installed on her foredeck. On 29 May 1940, she was deployed to assist in the Dunkirk evacuation and reportedly rescued 900 troops.
On 12 December 1945, she was returned to her owners, the Longfield brothers and was refitted and restored to her orignal name, BRIT, to operate once more as a pleasure cruiser for the start of the 1946 season. In 1950, she was modified with a lower funnel and bridge to be operated on the Thames by Thames Launches for excursion work during the Festival of Britain.
In spring 1951, she was sold to D. Dalton & G. Round for excursion work at Scarborough and renamed YORKSHIRE LADY. She was repainted with a white hull and a yellow funnel, which later had the company's house flag emblazoned on it. In a 1961 refit at Eyemouth, she was re-engined with Gardner 6LX diesels and a new wheelhouse was fitted. In 1968, she was sold and renamed CORONIA.

IoW (Isle of Wight) Ferry
Lots of action on the journey from Portsmouth to Ryde on the IoW (Isle of Wight) Ferry. Great views of HMS Warrior as we are in Portsmouth Harbour, and also the yellow and black masts of HMS Victory can just be seen. They are stubs at the moment whilst they are being restored.
I think a Daring Class Type 45 Destroyer may have been in port but I am not sure. HMS Dragon is one of the class that I think I saw last time.
Nice views of the harbour defenses, hovercraft which gets over in just a few minutes, and other vessels which seem to wave as they go past.
