It is not ancient (1840) but it is an important building (because of architecture and strange first owner) of modern Greece . The photos were taken in 2003 .

ATHENS: CHANGE OF GUARD at the TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER, GREECE ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Changing the guards in Athens, tomb of the unknown soldier (Greece). Athens (Αθήνα, Athína, Ἀθῆναι) is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens dominates the Attica region and is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years, and the earliest human presence started somewhere between the 11th and 7th millennia BC.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Picturesque villages, dimi car. Beautiful canyon to see the famous track, climbing center in the origin of the Greek independence movement, but also a well-known place. Most of the typical Greek mountain village residents raise sheep and goats. Still there was a donkey to carry the goods. It carries the burden of water and firewood milk when I used me. I have several cars instead of the donkey work. Since when did was have a donkey? Since I was with a donkey and a mule was born.

Tower Of The Winds - Ken Lattari
Quick moving rockology of an ancient tower.
An original song written and performed by Ken Lattari.
Travelling in Greece, 2007
Driving to Athens from Sounio to Attica
Methoni Castle, Messenia Greece
Methoni Castle is one of the most well preserved medieval castles in the Mediterranean Coast. It's position was a strategic one as it controlled all trade routes coming from the Adriatic Sea.
The Castle is divided in two parts, the south part where housing and other buildings exist with a simple fortification and with towers in close spaces. The northen part which is more fortified is the main complex of the Castle and here was also the seat of the Castle's commander. The two parts are divided by a small fortified wall with five towers.
Inside the Castle, there are some buildings that remain still intact among them the church of 'Metamorfosis tou Sotiros', a pyramid-like structure which was used as gunpowder storage and two Ottoman hamams. Also, close to the Ottoman hamams an old minaret exists but is in ruins.
One of the most exciting places of the Castle is the 'Μπουρτζι' (Bourtzi), a small fortified castle built in a small islet near the main castle's entrance in the sea. It's an octagonal tower with a small octagonal fortification and it is consisted of two levels. Inside the tower, there were four levels separated by wood floors. However, none exist today. 'Μπούρτζι' (Bourtzi) was firstly built by the Venetians around 1500 A.D. and the structure was completed by the Ottoman Turks in the 16th century.
By the beautiful music of Nacho Sotomayor (Nirvana Song), enjoy.

The Battle of Marathon (The Histories of Herodotus Excerpt)
The Battle of Marathon was a battle that took place in 490 BC in Attica, Greece, between the independent city-state of Athens and the vast Persian Empire.
The Persian force of approximately 30,000 infantry, arches and cavalry landed at the Bay of Marathon to encounter an Athenian hoplite force of approximately 10,000 heavy infantry in a defensive position.
Instead of holding back, the Athenians charged the Persians, routed the Persian wings and turned on the centre, putting the whole Persian army to flight and forcing those left alive to escape via their ships.
The battle was chronicled by Herodotus in his work The Histories (Enquiries).

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
The Hellenistic period covers the period of Mediterranean history between the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC and the emergence of the Roman Empire as signified by the Battle of Actium in 31 BC and the subsequent conquest of Ptolemaic Egypt the following year. The Ancient Greek word Hellas (Ἑλλάς, Ellás) is the original word for Greece, from which the word Hellenistic was derived. At this time, Greek cultural influence and power was at its peak in Europe, North Africa and Western Asia, experiencing prosperity and progress in the arts, exploration, literature, theatre, architecture, music, mathematics, philosophy, and science. It is often considered a period of transition, sometimes even of decadence or degeneration, compared to the enlightenment of the Greek Classical era. The Hellenistic period saw the rise of New Comedy, Alexandrian poetry, the Septuagint and the philosophies of Stoicism and Epicureanism. Greek science was advanced by the works of the mathematician Euclid and the polymath Archimedes. The religious sphere expanded to include new gods such as the Greco-Egyptian Serapis, eastern deities such as Attis and Cybele and a syncretism between Hellenistic culture and Buddhism in Bactria and Northwest India.
After Alexander the Great's invasion of the Achaemenid Empire in 330 BC and its disintegration shortly after, the Hellenistic kingdoms were established throughout south-west Asia (Seleucid Empire, Kingdom of Pergamon), north-east Africa (Ptolemaic Kingdom) and South Asia (Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, Indo-Greek Kingdom). The Hellenistic period was characterized by a new wave of Greek colonization which established Greek cities and kingdoms in Asia and Africa. This resulted in the export of Greek culture and language to these new realms, spanning as far as modern-day India. Equally, however, these new kingdoms were influenced by the indigenous cultures, adopting local practices where beneficial, necessary, or convenient. Hellenistic culture thus represents a fusion of the Ancient Greek world with that of the Near East, Middle East, and Southwest Asia. This mixture gave rise to a common Attic-based Greek dialect, known as Koine Greek, which became the lingua franca through the Hellenistic world.
Scholars and historians are divided as to what event signals the end of the Hellenistic era. The Hellenistic period may be seen to end either with the final conquest of the Greek heartlands by Rome in 146 BC following the Achean War, with the final defeat of the Ptolemaic Kingdom at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, or even the move by Roman emperor Constantine the Great of the capital of the Roman Empire to Constantinople in 330 AD. Hellenistic is distinguished from Hellenic in that the first encompasses the entire sphere of direct ancient Greek influence, while the latter refers to Greece itself.
