New York City 4K - Queens - Sunset Drive
Queens in New York City is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world. If each of New York City's boroughs were an independent city, Queens also would be the nation's fourth most populous, after Los Angeles in California, Chicago in Illinois and Brooklyn.
Queens is the easternmost and largest in area of the five boroughs of New York City. It is geographically adjacent to the borough of Brooklyn at the southwestern end of Long Island and to Nassau County farther east on Long Island; in addition, Queens shares water borders with the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx. Coterminous with Queens County since 1899, the borough of Queens is the second-largest in population (after Brooklyn), with a census-estimated 2,358,582 residents in 2017, approximately 48% of them foreign-born. Queens County also is the second-most populous county in the U.S. state of New York, behind the neighboring borough of Brooklyn, which is coterminous with Kings County. Queens is the fourth-most densely populated county among New York City's boroughs, as well as in the United States.
Queens has the most diversified economy of the five boroughs of New York City. It is home to JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. These airports are among the world's busiest, in turn giving Queens the busiest airspace in the United States. Landmarks in Queens include Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Citi Field (home to the New York Mets baseball team), the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (site of the US Open tennis tournament), Kaufman Astoria Studios, Silvercup Studios, and Aqueduct Racetrack. The borough has diverse housing, ranging from high-rise apartment buildings in the urban areas of western and central Queens, such as Jackson Heights, Flushing, Astoria, and Long Island City, to somewhat more suburban neighborhoods in the eastern part of the borough, including Little Neck, Douglaston, and Bayside.
Queens Boulevard is a major thoroughfare in the New York City borough of Queens connecting Midtown Manhattan, via the Queensboro Bridge, to Jamaica. The combination of Queens Boulevard's immense width, heavy automobile traffic, and thriving commercial scene made it the most dangerous thoroughfare in New York City by the 1990s.
In Popular Culture

Dukes Boulevard in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV is based on Queens Boulevard.
A short-lived sitcom entitled 13 Queens Boulevard, aired on ABC-TV in 1979.
On The Mindy Project Morgan says to Dr. Lahiri that if it weren't for her, he'd be working at the fake Popeye's on Queens Boulevard.
In the movie Cruel Intentions, the main character of Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Philippe) is seen driving along Queens Boulevard in the beginning credits.
In the movie Goodfellas, the character Morrie owns a wig shop located at 26 Queens Boulevard.

Here's where New York City's sewage really goes
New York City is home to 8.4 million waste-producing people; that's a lot of toilets, drains, and sewers. It takes 14 wastewater treatment facilities scattered throughout the five boroughs to clean up all of our dirty water.
We visited the largest facility, the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to see how the water is treated. It's a dirty job that surprisingly smells great.

On Day 30 of my Round The World Trip for Food my wife and I decided to make a food trek to Brooklyn to eat one of the best pizzas in New York City. The pizza restaurant: Di Fara Pizza. We then went to Gloria’s Caribbean Cuisine to eat some fantastic Trinidad cuisine. It was another good day of food in New York City.
1:35 Di Fara Pizza - When you do any kind of searching for the best pizza in New York City, it won’t take you long to find Di Fara Pizza, a family run restaurant in Brooklyn known for their incredible pizza. Also, when I went to NYC, many of you recommended that I needed to try Di Fara, so I decided that a pilgrimage was must. I arrived before they opened for lunch, and was first in line. I was a little torn as what to order, but finally just went with the classic round pie with half pepperoni and half cheese. The pizza took about 15 minutes to make and it came out of the oven hot and fresh. As soon as it came out, he chopped on some fresh basil. That first slice of pizza I had was one of the best pieces of pizza I’ve ever had. Everything tasted so pure and so balanced. The crust was right, the sauce and cheese were perfect. All the ingredients they use to make their pizza at Di Fara are from Italy, and so that’s part of the reason their pizza is so expensive. Is it the best pizza in New York City? I’m not really qualified to answer this as I haven’t been to all the famous pizza places in NYC. But what I can say is that Di Fara pizza is mind-blowingly good. Pizza price - $31
9:45 Gloria’s Caribbean Cuisine - After finishing the pizza we moved on to Gloria’s Caribbean Cuisine, a restaurant in Crown Height known for serving Caribbean food and especially mostly Trinidadian food. I decided to order the curry chicken meal while my wife ordered the curry fish meal. Both of the meals were huge and came with sides, rice, and vegetables. The curry chicken and curry fish were both excellent, full of spice flavor. This was my first time to have Trinidadian food, and it’s made me want to go to Trinidad immediately. For excellent Caribbean food in New York City, Gloria’s Caribbean Cuisine is a friendly restaurant. Curry chicken meal - $11, Curry fish meal - $13.
And that was basically it for the day. Ying wasn’t feeling too well, so we headed back to our hotel and rested. It was another great day of food in New York City!

Halal food becoming $20 billion industry in US
Halal food is becoming increasingly popular in the United States but that’s not simply tied to a growing Muslim population. The specially prepared meat is being embraced by some major supermarkets and 2016 is set to be a record year when it comes to sales. With Islamophobia on the rise in parts of the U.S., some hope halal food can provide a true taste of what the Muslim community brings to the table. CCTV’s William Denselow reports from New York.

Part 1 of 2: Mapping Slavery Project & Black Heritage Tours - New York State visit to Weeksville
A very special tour guided by Tia Powell Harris, Executive Director /President of Weeksville Heritage Center, in Brooklyn, NY
Weeksville is a neighborhood founded by African American freedmen and women in what is now Brooklyn, New York, United States, part of the present-day neighborhood of Crown Heights. Weeksville was named after James Weeks, a stevedore and formerly enslaved African-American from Virginia, who in 1838 (just 11 years after the abolition of slavery in New York State) bought a plot of land from Henry C. Thompson (another free African-American) in the Ninth Ward of central Brooklyn.
The Weeksville Heritage Center, Brooklyn’s largest African-American cultural institution...is dedicated to preserving the history of the 19th century African American community of Weeksville, Brooklyn - one of America’s first free black communities. weeksvillesociety.org
