Miniature Railways of Great Britain The Mablethorpe Miniature Railway August 2018
Mablethorpe M.R is a 7 1/4 gauged railway that runs around the edge of the Queens Park Putting green.
A petrol driven steam outline loco takes you through a tunnel and cuttings twice around for your ride.
It is nice to see these seaside railways still giving the children loads of fun and long may it continue.
We were very surprised to see that it opened at twelve o'clock (then it was late) on a Bank holiday Saturday, with everything else open and earning good money, the money they must have lost!
We enjoyed our time by the seaside lovely sand on the beach, well worth a visit.

Currency
Britain’s currency is the pound sterling (£), which is divided into 100 pence (p).
Scotland has its own pound sterling notes. These represent the same value as an English note and can be used elsewhere in Britain. The Scottish £1 note is not accepted outside Scotland.
There are lots of bureaux de change in Britain – often located inside:
• banks
• travel agents
• Post Offices
• airports
• major train stations.
It's worth shopping around to get the best deal and remember to ask how much commission is charged.

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.
If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.

Beachrace
My first ever race on Mablethorpe beach. Supposed to be a 'BANGER' race on the beach for carnival week. I was winning the first race I'd been in, when I stopped in error thinking it was the end on the last lap. A loose battery connection caused me to join late for my second race, so I got out just in front of the leader but a lap down. I had got up to second place when the short race ended.
My car was better than the white Moggy 1000 of my boss, and it was his car, as it was a 'sponsored' event, so he took it back. I didn't get the chance to race again for several years.
Mablethorpe Bike Festival 2013
The main event took place in and around Mablethorpe's Queens Park from 11am till 5pm. As well as bike themed stalls and displays from Cadwell Park and Skegness Stadium there were shows from the Two Brothers Racing Stunt Team and, for the first time, from freestyle mountain bike stunt team Savage Skills (as seen on ITV1′s Let's Get Gold). The weather meant we couldn't do everything we planned but there was still a Hog Roast and adjacent pubs, cafes and chip shops opened for the event.

Two Brothers Racing Stunt Team Interview
Mablethorpe is a friendly, traditional seaside resort on the Lincolnshire coast which has played host to motorcycle sand racing for over 40 years.
Since 2010 the Mablethorpe Motorcycle Festival has been held on the same weekend as the last sand race meet of the season giving bikers a great weekend of free entertainment at the seaside with plenty to see and so you don't don't miss a thing.
In 2012 Gary and Tina did it again (with a little help from their friends!). Before 2012 the festival took place in two locations and some people got tired of having to walk between them so for 2012East Lindsey District Council kindly agreed to let us use both of their car parks in Queens Park keeping the festival in one place. Let us know what you thought of the new site by submitting a comment at the bottom of this page.
The sun shone down on Queens Park and the local businesses supported the festival admirably with everything available from the boating lake and kids play area to The Clock Fish and Chip Shop and Steak House. The festival was busy all day and had the nice, relaxed, family friendly atmosphere that Mablethorpe does so well. We hope you all had a great time and will be back next year -- let us know if you enjoyed it by submitting a comment at the bottom of this page.
