Queen's University Campus Tour on a lovely autumn morning in Kingston
After traveling continuously for almost two years straight, this summer and fall signaled a transition for us. Instead of hauling our backpacks around from country to country we're back home in Canada. This summer we got married and decided to go back to school!

Our decision to enroll in University was something we've been considering ever since we met. We each other while teaching English in Korea and our desire to live abroad indefinitely was ultimately the catalyst for us to finally decide we needed to go back to school to get postgraduate degree in Education.
The province of Ontario is the last in Canada to offer an eight month degree in Education. After this year, the program is being shifted to two years to correspond with the rest of the provinces. With this mind, it was now or never. Neither of us could hack going back to school for two years. Although we're firmly committed to pursuing travel as our career, we want to have a firm backup plan in place.
These days, instead of carrying our backpacks from airports, buses and train stations we're hauling around a different kind of pack filled with lesson plans, notebooks and textbooks. The transition from constantly being on the move to living in one place hasn't been as smooth as I would have anticipated. To be perfectly honest, there are days when I question what I'm doing; however, I know that someday down the road we'll no doubt use our Education degrees. If nothing else they offer us peace of mind and something to fall back on if we were to ever fall flat on our faces with our travel related projects.
Considering the historical significance of Kingston (it was Canada's first capital), the reputation of Queen's and the smaller city appeal versus attending school in Toronto, we felt it was the best fit. Two months into our program we can confidently say we made the right decision. We're enjoying living here and this video is a showcase of the gorgeous fall colors of the leaves and ivy around campus as we give you a full tour of where we now temporarily call home.
Queen's University Campus Tour on a lovely autumn morning in Kingston
Alright, so it has been a while since our very last video, so I guess we owe you guys an apology because we've been a little bit lazy. But we do have a good reason. This summer we came back to Canada not only to get married but also to go back to school. We just started our classes in September. We're going to be students for the next eight months as we complete our Bachelor of Education. That is the reason we've been a little busy. We've been planning lessons and teaching classes but we're trying to get back into it, so today we're going to be taking you to the campus.
And we're really excited to give you a tour of our campus. It is a beautiful campus and this has been a big change for us going from traveling to going back to school and even to being in Canada. We normally don't live in Canada. We're used to be abroad. What we're going to do from now on is we're going to try to make some videos in Canada because we want to show you what it is like to be here.
It must be kind of shocking for you guys to see us in our winter clothes. Normally we're decked out in goofy backpacking t-shirts and shorts and flip flops but now we're all bundled up today. I've got my toque on, I've got my thick fall jacket on. It is cold outside.
Alright, so we are here at the Queen's University campus and I think fall is the most beautiful time of the year to visit. We still have some ivy left on the limestone buildings and the colors are starting to change. The leaves are falling down and we are here on a Sunday morning. It is just really quiet and really peaceful.
Another reason we're really excited is that we have an overseas practicum placement and we're not going to tell you where it is but we'll give you a little bit of a hint. It is going to be in South America and it is going to happen in March.
I've spotted a squirrel behind me. He's having a snack.
Giant Maple Leafs.
And that is it for our little campus tour. We're just going to show you a few more clips of Kingston in the fall.

Prologue || My Study Abroad Experience in Canada (Queens University Kingston)
For the first installment to my travel series Reggie on the Road I thought it be a good idea to begin where I got the whole idea for the series and my hunger for adventure.
For 8 months I moved to a small city called Kingston in Ontario. Here I met incredible people and experienced many firsts.
Seeing skyscrapers for the first time in Toronto, joining an all male acapella group, doing things in the snow and Ice I never imagined I would. Canada is an amazing country full of so many opportunities and wonderful people, I really look forward to the day I return.
Feel free to let me know your experience of studying abroad/ of Canada/ of anything you found cool in this video. It took me quite a while to gather all my footage from the year into one concise video so I truly hope you enjoy it and it gives you inspiration to give studying abroad a try, Hands down one of the best decisions of my life.

DAY IN THE LIFE at Queen's University | vlog!
TODAY was AWESOME! Follow me around campus to see what a busy, productive Tuesday of a first year commerce student at Queen's University looks like. My first vlog ever was so much fun to film!
What I did today (Tuesday, February 5, 2019):
- workout at the gym
- laundry
- 2 classes - accounting and organizational behavior (1.5 hrs each)
- thrift shopping + cafe downtown (in the 1.5 hour break between my two classes)
- club exec meeting
- study + work!
The day was a 9am to 1:30am kind of day - which is not typical (I usually try to get to bed before 12). But then again, none of my days are consistently scheduled. I hate routine!
I particularly love this vlog because it’s a great combination of things that have been helping me stay healthy and happy over the winter months. I struggle a lot with massive slumps of energy when it gets cold, but going to the gym, eating well, managing my mindset, podcasts, and making time for fun is key!
