The Beaches of Manly in Sydney Australia - Manly Beach, Shelly Beach, Collins Beach #manlybeach
There are so many things to do and see when you visit Manly in Sydney Australia.
We have a heap of beaches to explore, some on the oceanfront and some on the harbour side that are only accessible via kayak or boat.
The main beach is Manly Beach which is one the most famous beaches in Australia and is at the Southern end of the main beach with Nth Steyne in the Middle and Queenscliff at the Northern most point. All are popular with visitor's, tourist and locals and are Stunning for sunrise.
Enjoy one of Sydney's most famous walk from Manly surf club along Marine Parade, past Fairy Bower, the ocean pool and onto Shelly Beach. Many visitor's to Manly describe Fairy Bower as Sydney's little Mediterranean.
Cabbage tree bay is the ocean bay that runs from Manly point to the bower surf spot of Shelly beach.
Cabbage Tree Bay has the most amazing sea life and is perfect for snorkelling or scuba diving. It is a protected sanctuary so plenty of fish abound. Popular with visitor's and locals.
Above Shelly Beach is an entrance to North Head Sanctuary National Park. The views along the coastline and over Shelly Beach and Manly are incredible. It is the most amazing walk through the Australian bush. Once up there you wouldn't think you are in Sydney as it is so quiet with so much to see.
North Head is a very special place for the Aboriginal people, the cliffs of North Head and views over Sydney Harbour are awesome. It is defiantly one of the best walks to do in Sydney.
Along the harbour we have Collins Flat Beach just off Little Manly Cove, and is one of the best beaches on Sydney Harbour. Next to Collins Beach you have jump rock which is a famous spot to jump into the water. Popular with visitor's and locals.
To the left side of Collins is Store beach which is only accessible by Kayak, boat or walking around the rocks at low tide from Collins. Such a beautiful beach. The bay is a favourite spot to anchor for yachts and cruisers. Popular with visitor's and locals.
If we go further around we have Quarantine Beach which is part of the old Quarantine Station. the station has a deep history of the first settlers and is a great spot to visit by boat or walking up from Manly along Darley road. Popular with visitor's and locals.
If we cross over Manly Cove we come to Little Manly which is a great beach for families as it has a netted section for the kids to play in and a great cafe. Popular with locals and tourists
If we go further around we come to east esplanade and west esplanade beach on Manly cove. Both are great with the east side being popular with locals to chill on the beach and have picnics on the grass {the office).
West side is netted and a good size harbour beach and popular with tourists.
Walk along the path towards Fairlight and we go past Federation Point and come across Delwood Beach. This is a beautiful beach that is small, with not much room and much better at low tide if it's busy. Popular with locals.
If we keep walking we come across Fairlight beach which is Fantastic. Has a very good size ocean pool and a good size beach. It is a popular beach with locals and across the water you can see Forty Baskets and Reef beach which you go past on the Manly to Spit walk.
Pretty much everyone who visit's Loves Manly.

Queenscliff Bombie — Pumping Swell — 10 March 2017 — Sydney, Australia — Surfing
— Queenscliff Bombie has been pumping with the biggest swell since last year's East Coast low. Tom Franklin, Sam Jones, Matt Dunsmore, and Stefan Marsella set out to tackle Sydney's outer reef. Amongst the action, there were some heavy hold downs, a popped eardrum, countless snapped boards, and a surf ski getting smashed into pieces.

History
The beach was named by Capt. Arthur Phillip for the indigenous people living there. He wrote about them, Their confidence and manly behaviour made me give the name of Manly Cove to this place
One of the first seaside resorts to allow daylight swimming and surfing back in 1903, Manly offers the unique combination of wide ocean beaches on one side and serene sandy harbour coves and inlets on the other.
Try the oceanside surfing beaches and coves of Manly for active water sports: surfing, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Or simply sunbathe, take a dip in one of the saltwater swimming pools or swim off the patrolled beaches.
Manly Council is a proud partner of the NSW Cancer Council
For a different beach experience enjoy the sheltered sandy beach and gentle waves of Manly Cove, on the harbour side right next to the Wharf - ideal for family picnics, sailing, fishing, building sandcastles or just relax in the sun.
Join the visitors and locals on the long beachfront promenade and cycleways to stroll, jog, rollerblade or bike ride.
Safety
For safety in the surf you should only swim between the red and yellow flags which mark the safest swimming areas. Manly's beaches are patrolled all year round by lifeguards.

Wormhole / Queenscliff Tunnel, Sydney Northern Beaches
A walking tour of Wormhole, also known as Queenscliff Tunnel, Manly Tunnel or Freshwater Tunnel is a tunnel dug through the cliff between Queenscliff Beach and Freshwater Beach.
Read the detailed write-up on our website, SundayExplorer.com.
The story goes that the tunnel was completed in the early 1900s, possibly by fishermen, to allow easy access between the two beaches. It is approximately 20-30 metres in length and opens out to expansive ocean views at either end.
It is only a few minutes to walk from the Queenscliff ocean pool to the tunnel over the rocks. Large fallen boulders now block the path between the end of the tunnel and Freshwater Beach, however it is possible to climb over these and complete the journey if you so desire.
Queenscliff Beach is the northern end of Manly Beach, making this an easy area to access via public transport. Make a full day adventure by linking this walk up with others walks in Manly including the path to Shelly Beach and you have one of the best walks in Sydney.
