Visit to the Forth Bridge Queensferry Museum
The staff and students of UWS along with the Headmistress of Kilgraston, Mrs MacGinty, visited the Forth Replacement Crossing Contact and Education Centre(CEC) and project exhibition on Monday, September 21st 2015.The Forth (Rail) Bridge has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. The CEC represents a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy through education and engagement. Through their educational initiatives, they inspire the next generation of engineers.
The group attended a very informative workshop which briefed them about the construction of different kinds of bridges and the challenges faced while construction. By the end of the group activity, the girls were able to construct a model of a tetrahedron bridge.
The visit to Queensferry Crossing was an excellent opportunity to see one of the biggest projects in Scotland in action. This mentoring experience has been an incredible useful tool for the students of UWS.

Two Bridges in UK with shops - here's ONE
There are only Two Bridges in UK with shops on - here is ONE of them.Pulteney Bridge is a bridge that crosses the River Avon, in the City of Bath, England. It was completed in 1773 and is designated by English Heritage as a grade I listed building.
The bridge was designed by Robert Adam, whose working drawings are preserved in the Sir John Soane's Museum, and is one of only four bridges in the world with shops across the full span on both sides.
It is named after Frances Pulteney, heiress in 1767 of the Bathwick estate across the river from Bath. Bathwick was a simple village in a rural setting, but Frances's husband William could see its potential. He made plans to create a new town, which would become a suburb to the historic city of Bath. In order to get there you needed a bridge. Hence this one.

Places to see in ( St. Andrews - UK )
St. Andrews is a seaside town northeast of Edinburgh, on Scotland’s east coast. It's known for its many golf courses, including the Old Course, with the landmark Swilcan Bridge at the 18th hole. The British Golf Museum chronicles the history of U.K. golf. On a headland nearby are the ruins of St. Andrews Castle, with its medieval bottle dungeon. Close to the castle is the University of St. Andrews, founded in 1413.
St. Andrews is a town on the east coast of Fife in Scotland, 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Dundee and 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Edinburgh. The town of St. Andrews is home to the University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English-speaking world and the oldest in Scotland. According to some rankings, it is ranked as the third best university in the United Kingdom, behind Oxbridge.
St. Andrews is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle. There has been an important church in St Andrews since at least the 8th century, and a bishopric since at least the 11th century . The settlement grew to the west of St Andrews cathedral with the southern side of the Scores to the north and the Kinness burn to the south. The burgh soon became the ecclesiastical capital of Scotland, a position which was held until the Scottish Reformation. The famous cathedral, the largest in Scotland, now lies in ruins.
St Andrews is also known worldwide as the home of golf. This is in part because the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754, exercises legislative authority over the game worldwide (except in the United States and Mexico), and also because the famous links (acquired by the town in 1894) is the most frequent venue for The Open Championship, the oldest of golf's four major championships.
Visitors travel to St Andrews in great numbers for several courses ranked amongst the finest in the world, as well as for the sandy beaches. The Martyrs Memorial, erected to the honour of Patrick Hamilton, George Wishart, and other martyrs of the Reformation epoch, stands at the west end of the Scores on a cliff overlooking the sea.

UK Queen at official opening of bridge across River Forth
(4 Sep 2017) UK QUEEN AT OFFICIAL OPENING OF BRIDGE ACROSS RIVER FORTH
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the UK's tallest bridge over Scotland's Forth river Monday (4 SEPT. 2017.)
The Queen was welcomed by Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and spent some time talking to people at the south end of the bridge, including the construction workers, local officials and school children.
The bridge was blessed by the Church of Scotland's Moderator, The Right Rev. Dr. Derek Browning.
The monarch is to become a great-grandmother again, after it was announced on Monday that Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child.
The Queen cut the blue ribbon on the 1.35 (b) billion UK pounds (1.75 billion US dollars) road bridge, to cheers from the watching crowd.
The ceremony comes 53 years after she opened the neighboring Forth Road Bridge.
The Queen, accompanied by her husband, Prince Philip, then traveled by car across the bridge while the Red Arrows performed a fly-past and a flotilla of boats traveled under the bridge as the national anthem was played.

Tour Scotland Spring video of a small cruise boat on the Firth of Forth by the Forth Railway Bridge near South Queensferry near Edinburgh. This feat of Victorian engineering has joined St Kilda, Edinburgh and the Great Wall of China on Unesco as a World Heritage Site. The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles west of central Edinburgh. It was opened on 4 March 1890. The bridge connects Edinburgh with Fife, leaving the Lothians at Dalmeny and arriving in Fife at North Queensferry and onwards to Perth, Perthshire, connecting the north-east and south-east of the country. The bridge was begun in 1883 and took 7 years to complete with the loss of 98 men. Until 1917, when the Quebec Bridge was completed, the Forth Bridge had the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world, and it still has the world's second longest single span.
