Queenstown Cemetery - Queenstown, NZ - 4 August 2014
Description: Queenstown Cemetery - Queenstown, NZ - 4 August 2014.
Neuseeland - New Zealand 2018 / Teil 19 - Queenstown Friedhof / Cemetery

♥ Our second to last day in New Zealand before heading on to the rest of our honeymoon - morning coffee, exploring town (and finding a cemetery and mini golf), finishing with dinner and a show on top of a mountain overlooking Queenstown.

Uncle Jones Productions presents - Vertigo Downhill in Queenstown, New Zealand.
If this does not thrill you, please proceed to the cemetery, you have no pulse! Summary of 4 hours/6 laps going up hill via Gondola, coming downhill on the bike.
If you have ADD (attention deficit disorder), go straight to minute 4:43 for the crash scene, but I strongly recommend watching it all.

Strange World of New Zealand : Haunted Locations
Finally I finished the next part to our mini series the Strange World of New Zealand with Haunted Locations. It took some time but I uncovered quite a few areas that had all sorts of spirit activity. In this I do go over a handful of them but there are plenty more for you to discover. I will be doing a UFO version of this as well but it will finish up our series.

New Zealand, Nevis Valley 4WD tour
The Nevis Valley is a beautiful, barren valley located between Cromwell and Garston in the Central Otago region of New Zealand. The Nevis Valley was first used as a trail route by Maori people. Early European settlers farmed the valley and in 1862 a Maori farmhand found some gold in the river. Years later, pioneering miners decided to investigate reports of this find and they soon struck it rich. Efforts to keep the find a secret failed - and so began the Nevis Valley gold rush.Saved by the remoteness of this valley, the remains of numerous stone buildings from the gold mining days offer a fascinating insight into the perseverance and ingenuity of early pioneers. The relics include everything from the cemetery and settlement buildings through to a woolshed and the first ski hut.
3 Different Campgrounds | South Island, New Zealand
I start exploring the South Island in New Zealand and stay at 3 different types of campgrounds.
The first is a Department of Conservation campground called Pelorus Bridge Campground in the Marlborough area. Absolutely beautiful spot, but unfortunately rained for most of my stay.
I then move to a more traditional campground in Nelson. This is actually the first campground I stayed at after purchasing my caravan! It's called Tahuna Beach Kiwi Holiday Park and it's a huge campground. I ended up staying in the 8th section I think? In that part, only self contained vehicles can stay and you get a perk if you are an NZMCA member.
I then move to Ruby Bay (which is not far from Nelson) and stay at McKee Memorial Reserve. It's right by the water and has only just opened again after a storm damaged it.

Controversial $200m Queenstown hotel approved without public hearing
A proposal to build a $200 million Queenstown hotel complex has been approved, without a public hearing.
Developer Graham Wilkinson's company, Brecon St Partnership, wants to build two hotels with 393 rooms over seven storeys on Brecon St.
The four buildings would include 12 ground floor commercial tenancies.
The proposed site houses an outdoor mini golf business. It is next to the central Queenstown cemetery, near Skyline gondola.

The plan had attracted nine submissions but a Queenstown Lakes District Council decision dated June 28 noted none of the nine submitters wished to be heard. The council did not consider a public hearing was necessary.
Submitters can appeal the council's decision to the Environment Court.
The consent is conditional on rules on regarding building heights, parking, construction and operational noise being met.
Wilkinson, who also developed and owns the St Moritz Hotel in Queenstown, said his company was still analysing what the conditions meant. He had not committed to a start date for construction.
There are several technical areas we need to do further work on.
It had taken more than two years to get the consent after he started working with council and its experts to design a project that would be accepted quickly.
The developers originally proposed a nine-storey, 468-room hotel and fought to have a council decision made without public input.
That was knocked back by the council and the plan for the smaller hotel was submitted, also with the intention of avoiding public notification.
The initial plan – which almost twice the permitted height limit – attracted considerable opposition, but the reduced option has won the support of neighbours such as Skyline, iFly and the leasee of the Queenstown Lakeview Holiday Park.
In February, commissioner Jan Caunter decided it should be publicly notified in and it attracted nine submissions, seven in support, one in support with conditions, and one in opposition.
In April, the company applied to have the resource consent application heard by the Environment Court instead of council to ensure an efficient decision-making process.
Hundreds of new hotel beds are under construction or being proposed for Queenstown, including a 277-room Holiday Inn in the town centre, a 131-room Ramada Queenstown across the road, and a 400-room hotel on Gorge Rd.
Queenstown Lakes ratepayers have voted in favour a 5 per cent visitor levy for the district.
Tourism Industry Aotearoa chief executive Chris Roberts said in April hoteliers all over New Zealand were facing a period of uncertainty, with increases in the minimum wage, the growing number of Airbnb properties and slowing tourism growth.
