Being dubbed as the birth place of surfing in the Philippines, Baler offers great surfing waves and is an ideal surf spot as it is a road trip away from Manila. Aside from surfing, there are many other things to do in Baler. The town has a rich history, and there are different historical landmarks in the area. Baler is also filled with many beautiful nature spots which you can explore on a day trip. These include:

Aurora Province: The Treasure of the Philippines
The Aurora Province is located on the East-Central part of Luzon Island, the main Island of the Philippines. The province of Aurora covers the eastern portion of the Sierra Madre Mountains, hence it is generally mountainous. Its coastline spans 332 kilometres in length. Aurora is a province blessed with an abundance of tourist attractions. It has its share of historical sites such as the home and resthouse of former Phil-ippine President Manuel L. Quezon. The province also has a beautiful Catholic church and several historical markers. Its natural attractions include picturesque waterfalls, lush greenery on mountainsides, and panoramic beaches. Surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, mountain climb-ing and trekking are only some of the activities you can enjoy in Aurora. The social life is dominated by a mixture of old traditions of the natives and modern arts. So the displeasing dances of former head hunters can be admired as well as the work of highly talented artists of today's time. The population lives predominantly on farming and skilled crafts. It is conspicuous how engaged scientists work out solutions for an eco-logical lasting way of managing agriculture and to increase the conser-vation management. The influence of Spanish conquerors in Auroras history is still present at many places trough to the architectural style of historic buildings. Also a big Part of the population is Catholic.

In time with the commemoration of the 124th birth anniversary of Doña Aurora Aragon-Quezon, President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the inauguration ceremony of the newly-improved hospital in Barangay Reserva, Baler, Aurora that is named after the reputable Doña Aurora.
Upon arrival, the President was joined by Health Secretary Enrique Ona, Sen. Edgardo Angara, Aurora Gov. Bellaflor Angara-Castillo, Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara Jr., Mayor Arturo Angara and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Toshinao Urabe, to tour the modernized Aurora Memorial Hospital building. It has a 50 in-patient capacity and is fully-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The project, which costs ¥1.09 billion, is funded by the Japanese government through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
He conveyed his utmost gratitude to the government of Japan because it did not waive the completion of the hospital construction despite the natural disasters suffered by their country. He said that this initiative will only strengthen strategic partnership and foster deeper cooperation and friendship between Philippines and Japan.
President Aquino pledged that the national government will provide medicine and other medical consumables for the hospital. He also said that the impressive development of the hospital will benefit more Auroran families with practised health workers and professional medical care.

Aurora Province is located on the East-Central side of Luzon Island. It is the north-eastern most province of Central Luzon (Region III). It is bordered on the north by the provinces of Isabela and Qurino, on the west by Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya, on the south by Bulacan and Quezon, and on the east by the Pacific Ocean. The province's main link to the rest of Luzon is through a narrow mountain gravel road that twists through the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. The road is located between Baler and Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.
