SOT, Sabina Altynbekova, volleyball player (Russian): Of course, if we are a team, there is not one specific player. That is, if we are a team, we are making it all together. About the beauty: I am an ordinary girl from Kazakhstan, I will not get tired of repeating it. I am constantly talking about it. I do not know, it happened. It's fate. And maybe, if I had not engaged in volleyball, none of this would have happened.

Kazakh volleyball player Sabina Altynbekova, deemed by critics 'too hot to play volleyball', spoke out against the claims during training in Almaty, Saturday.
The 17-year-old, who initially melted young Chinese hearts at the 2014 Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship, said that she is just an ordinary girl from Kazahkstan.
Fans said her gorgeous looks distracted spectators from the game, but the attention has become too overwhelming for Altynbekova who has asked fans to stop creating social media pages about her. The sports star has become so much of a hit that fans have been creating anime fantasies starring her.
It is rumoured that Sabina is considering a career as a model, but she maintains that the success of her volleyball team remains her top priority.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

euronews Life - Almaty: Kazakhstan's Garden City
The city of Almaty lies to the south of Kazakhstan, a stop off point in years gone by on the Silk Road, the great trading route that linked east and west.
Trade and economy are still at the heart of Almaty which was once the country's capital. It is the financial centre of central Asia and attracted some six million tourists last year. History, hot summers and a raft of winter sports on tap are among the top attractions.
In the hustle and bustle of modern development Almaty has not forgotten long held traditions like the famous steam baths, the Russian Banya.
Some like it hot first thing. Bagdat Yermagambedov has been taking the steam for 30 years.
Its a tradition here and everyone likes to start the week with a Banya to gather energy for the rest of the week, but what is a Russian bath without the steam - its not a bath! It's a great pleasure to come here to the steam rooms to re-charge our energy, he explained.
The vast Arasan complex was opened in 1982 and has been hailed as the best 'Banya' in central Asia. If a massage is not for you there are many other ways of ending your visit.
Some people like to start the day with a good thrashing; birch leaves pummel the skin and its supposed to stimulate the circulation to take the stress out of the day before you have even started. It doesn't so much hurt as it stings.
A morning in the Banya is perhaps the perfect preparation for a visit to the busy Green Bazaar. On the Silk Road it is Kazakhstan's biggest market and brings to life all the finest traditions of the Asian bazaar, buying selling and meeting people.
The word Almaty means city of apples and the region is believed to be the ancestral home of the apple as one stallholder pointed out: The apples from Almaty are considered to be top quality and we have many different varieties, and of those the most appetising, the most popular and well known, is this one here - the Aport.
Underground for the commuter its all less crowded where you can get a seat at any time of the day on the new metro.
Opened just six months ago the metro was 23 years in the planning and finished at an estimated cost of 900 million euros. The platforms and seven stations on the 8.5 kilometre stretch have gleaming marble floors.
Two more stations are set to open. Soon they will be buzzing with more passengers.
Beyond the city boundary you will hear the motto of a group of children echo in the mountain air. We don't take the easiest path, they chant.
Local climber Maxut Zhumayev started this childrens' camp. He is one of only 12 mountaineers to scale the 14 peaks over 8,000 metres without oxygen, a remarkable feat.
Not quite the heights which 11-year-old Iskander Temirtas is aiming for. At the summit he wants to take an easier route down but is told he can't. Maxut has banned mobile phones, iPads and computer games.
I want children to believe in themselves, in their power, their force. Its very important for me that they use me as an example so that they can see that you can climb Everest, you can be the strongest and win Olympic medals. There is nothing too difficult in this life, he said.
Maxut is hoping his philosophy will catch the imagination of a new generation and his mountain camps will grow to become an integral part of life in Almaty.

Edip Yuksel (E) vs. Abu Eesa Niamatullah at Almaty Kazakhstan
For the full story of this interesting debate see:
HijabulousTV: Although I side with Edip's reason, I do not think it is best to be accusatory and judgmental towards the other debater, whomever it may be. It does not reflect good conduct. However I can understand where Edip got that from, for Ahmed Deedat himself was very harsh with his chrisitian debaters. Doesn't mean it's right though.
EDIP YUKSEL: Dear sister... The followers of these imams killed my closest friend and they have tried to kill me many times. In other words, this nice guy with beard promotes killing of anyone they deem heretic and their teaching have created a tradition of oppression, repression, bigotry, intolerance, violence, ignorance, misogyny and many other problems in the so-called Muslim world. So, knowing how evil his position is, I am very respectful and calm.
***
When Sunni or Shiite clergymen gain power, they rarely, if ever, allow their sectarian teachings to be challenged by monotheists like me. Though we always open our doors, windows and occasionally our chimneys for them, they rarely allow us in their Internet forums or Paltalk rooms. The moment they realize that we are monotheists, that we do not associate fabricated hadith to the Quran, that we do not praise Muhammad more than God, that we do not accept verses abrogated by hungry holy goats, that we do not believe that music is prohibited and women should be avoided like a dog, and hundreds of other non-Quranic teachings and practices, they insult us, falsely accuse and sensor us. Their leaders have called me Zionist, Bahai, or the member of the Moon Cult who received a million dollars... They are very good in producing many rabbits from their hadith-trained imaginations, and ironically they tend to believe the objective reality of their imaginary rabbits. I hope that Abu Eesa appreciates this great difference between monotheists and polytheists. Rational monotheists have nothing to fear, since they have nothing to hide.
Abu Eesa Niamatullah was a smart, articulate and cordial tall man with very long arms that could hug a camel vertically. He was born in the United Kingdom, of Pakistani heritage. With his Arabized title and first name, black robe, kosher beard and short hair contrary to what his hadith literature describes his fashion idol, he was wearing a strait jacket around his outgoing personality, screaming the troops of contradictions: a former disk-jockey who considered music a sin, a science-educated man who was promoting nonsense, a humorous man who somehow ended up playing the role of a Sunni scholar. Abu Eesa (The Father of Eesa), was a British-educated Pakistani man impersonating the composite Sunni character created by medieval Arab, Persian, and Turkish pagans, Jewish Rabbis and Christian Monks through mishmash stories and norms! Holy concoction! Under the same garb, he was both a mullah and a normal human being. Perhaps we could become close friends if he did not have his second personality, which promoted a cruel, oppressive and repressive religion. But he has hope. As long as he has some sense of humor left in him, as long as he can listen to the opposing voice, he may be able to free himself from the dogma of the master hypnotist. Time will tell.
Like all religious people who follow dogma blindly, he too was convinced that his cloth and grooming was an integral part of his faith. Knowing that faith is a euphemism for wishful thinking or joining a particular bandwagon for petty tribal, social, political and/or economic interests, it was not a surprise to see many of the followers of dogma showing off with their cloth and grooming; a juvenile way of making a point: I am different and holier than you, and I am the center of the universe! I am the missing link between you and heaven! In this regard, Abu Eesa was better than the Catholic priests; at least he did not generate dust and smoke like the Pope with a funny hat who breaks multiple records in Yuksel's Record of Religious Oddities. (I am working on a new book now. I will rank the top 100 religious oddities according to the amount of logical, natural and internal contradictions they cause.)

Road Songs #6: Alamanty (Almaty, Kazakhstan)
The sixth road song is a tune I composed while campaign in the national park of Kyrgyzstan, but it was recorded in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I was in a flat and had access to a computer, so this time I was able to overdub the recording but not to give you a nice landscape in the background. Anyway the room was nicely decorated, so enjoy Alamanty.

THE COSMOPOLITAN BAR - Kazakhstan
This relatively new bar is one of the most refined places to spend your evenings in Almaty. Few places have the word class written over them to quite the extent Cosmo does, and the management have not only done a great job in establishing such a feature of the city's night scene in such a short space of time, but also know how to make sure that the place lives up to its reputation and retain its customers week in week out.
It would be reasonable to associate the word cosmopolitan with both its literal meaning and also with the stylish magazine which for many years now has popularised fashion across the world. In naming this establishment, the owners clearly understood that both connotations would have relevance to the lounge bar and the people who visit. Any evening in Cosmopolitan is a testimony to their choice, as a diverse clientele gathers in one of the plushest joints in town to chill into the early hours.

Getting Sick in Kazakhstan, Puch Maxi is back! | Moped adventure touring in Asia
Returning from Tajikistan I travel north through Kyrgyzstan to Bishkek to get my Puch Maxi back. Afterwards I continue on towards Kazakhstan, where I get sick for the first time, so bad in fact I had to go to the hospital. And right afterwards I felt a lot better and was already on the road again.
In 2018 I did this trip where I shipped my Moped to Mongolia and rode it all the Way back home to Austria. In 3 Months I covered 13.000 kilometers crossed the Mongolian steppes and went through the Pamir Mountains. All in all it was an awesome adventure I wouldn't want to miss.

NAURYZ 2013 - ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN
ACT lighting design was commissioned by the Mayor of the City of Astana to deliver a made to measure sound & light spectacle for the festivities of Nauryz organized from 21st of March until 1st of April 2013.
Two different shows display the dynamic illumination of the triangular columns, the beam lights on their tops and 32 moving lights placed around the Bayterek tower, bringing a modern & artistic vision to the atmosphere of Nauryz by playing with light and a mix of classical & kazakh musical pieces.
The installation made of 98 golden pillars with cut outs in the form of traditional Kazakh ornaments and narrow beam lights, reminds of the year of foundation of the capital and forms its emblem. To celebrate the day of the Equinox this structure have two different appearances : one during the night, colorful and dynamic and one during the day, peaceful and playing with the sun light.
In this project we use only low energy sources: the power consumption of the 98 beam lights is only 198W instead of the typical 4000W beam lights. The maximum consumption of LEDs strips lighting up the columns doesn't exceed 120W per column, thus allowing Astana to welcome spring with bright new light and considering ecology and efficiency of this installation.
