Eating Guinea Pigs in the Andes Mountains regions of South America is a long and special tradition. They’ve been raised and eaten for thousands of years, and to this day, they remain very popular, and reserved for special meals. The city of Cusco, Peru, and the surrounding areas is one of the best places in Peru to eat guinea pig, known locally as cuy. #Cusco #Peru #PeruvianFood
In this Peruvian cuy tour, we ate three different guinea pigs in a row:
1. San Pedro Market - Right in the heart of Cusco is San Pedro Market, a wonderful Peruvian food market with everything you can imagine. In the morning you’ll find quite a few vendors selling to-go guinea pigs. We had this first, but it wasn’t the best of the day.
2. Tipón, Peru - For our guinea pig number two we drove to Tipón, a town that claims to be a “National Capital of Delicious Baked Guinea Pig.” We headed straight for Cuyeria Monica, where she baked a fresh cuy, bubbled the skin, and served us the full cuy Peruvian food plates. Fresh out of the oven, with the crispy skin, it was incredibly delicious. 35 PEN ($10.61) - Price per cuy
3. Cuyeria Sol Moqueguano - Back to the center of Cusco, we tried a famous restaurant for cuy, Cuyeria Sol Moqueguano, where they have both baked and deep fried. This was an incredible meal, the deep fried version was sensational. The entire plate, including the sausage and rocoto relleno, was outstanding. 42 PEN ($12.73) - Per per cuy
It was a fantastic Peruvian food day in Cusco, and a learning experience.

THE 7 LAKES OF AUSANGATE | BEST ALTERNATIVE HUMANTAY LAKE
The 7 Lakes of Ausangate is an unforgettable day trip from Cusco. On this trip, you will visit seven lakes with different beautiful colors like pink, green, turquoise, and bright blue, in addition to spectacular mountains part of the Vilcanota range such as Ausagante and Ayancate.
Humantay Lake is the most famous lake and one of the most popular one-day tours in Cusco, Peru.
The 7 Lakes of Ausangate is a new touristic attraction which has not gained a lot of popularity yet.
In collaboration with M&R Machu Picchu Expeditions, I am showing you in this video WHY you should visit the 7 Lakes of Ausangate.
I definitely would choose the 7 Lakes of Ausangate over the Humantay Lake because it is less crowded, it is less far away, and you will see 7 lakes instead of only one so you don't need to stand in a row with other tourists for the picture perfect spots.
Thank you for watching this video and don't forget to give a thumbs up & subscribe on my channel!

The highlight of our visit to Peru was exploring the magnificent Incan citadel, Machu Picchu. We then traveled to Quito, Ecuador before flying to the Galapagos Island, located 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. Our seven-day cruise included stops at San Cristobal, Espanola, Floreana, Santa Cruz, San Salvador, Isabela, and Fernandina Islands.

Peru - Episode 4: Panoramic trains and thermal baths (English subtitles)
The adventure continues towards the small village of Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu where we'll learn more about Inca culture. It's a long journey from Cusco and waking up in the middle of the night to get there is not the easiest thing to do, but it's all worth it when the scenery from the panoramic train departing from Ollantaytambo is breathtaking.

Travel Peru - Meet the Guardians of the Peruvian Amazon
The highway that connects the Atlantic in Brazil to the Pacific in Peru brings economic benefit, but it also brings destruction, deforestation, and economic pressure on local people to give up their way of life. But, there's a third way - creating premium products in harmony with nature.
The Interoceanic Highway ploughs through the most remote parts of the Amazon basin, and along much of its 2,600 km (1,615 miles) length, the rainforest has been cleared and replaced with row after row of papaya. The plantations create income for the locals, but they also kill the rainforest. Nothing else will grow after papayas have taken all the goodness from the soil.
The highway also means the illegal miners can come, pillage the rivers for gold and tip their toxic waste into the pristine environment. They openly tout for workers in the frontier towns like Puerto Maldonado. The locals know they’re killing the forest – but the jobs pay so well, and there are families to feed!
For your next trip, don’t ask “where will I go”, but “HOW will I go?”
The choices we make with the way we travel can make a huge difference to the world, and its people. After all, it’s the diversity, authenticity and originality of life which draws us to travel in the first place, so lets work to protect that.
At World Nomads we believe we have a responsibility to give back, but don’t wait until your adventure is over. Embrace the opportunities to take the third way through organisations such as Rainforest Expeditions.
Travel has the power to change lives. Use that power wisely.

If you had any experience, you can comment on it. Thank you.

4. Top 4 Route: Choquequirao Trek With the Company: Choquequirao Trek Company

2. Top 1 Route: Inca Trail With the Company: Inca Trail Travel
1. Top 3 Route: Inca Jungle With Company: Inca Jungle Company
5. Top 5 Route: Lares Trek With Company: Lares Trek Company
This experience was really incredible. Lares Trek is a great company and really puts a lot of care, planning and effort to guarantee tourists get the most out of the adventure. We loved the challenge and the continuous support of the staff. We joined a public group and was able to connect well with all 6 members. We found our staff, composed of rider, porters, cooks, and a guide to be very helpful, talented and knowledgeable. A huge guide to our shoutout, Anibel for his great humor, kindness and knowledge! The walk was moderately challenging, however, possible for all. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was amazing - our belongings were carried out, tents built, and food prepared. He greeted us with Coca on the mountain peak. Everyone was friendly and stimulating. Thanks for a great time! We will never forget this experience. We recommend Lares Trek! Lares Trek Company (
4. Top 4 Route: Choquequirao Trek With the Company: Choquequirao Trek Company
We booked our 6d / 5n trip with Choquequirao Trek for the end of November 2016 with some apprehension, since both are quite fit but also 40+. However, Rider did not seem to be worried at our first meeting and neither did Sam, our guide when we met on the eve of our trip for our briefing. And although Sam explained that success (or failure) was a mindset, the first 500 meters at the start of the track at 3015 m had worried me. Looking back, this was the only time I felt that I would not be able to complete this trip, even when Tony and Sam were out of sight ahead. Sam had a magical way of being encouraging without being aggressive or condescending. He would do it until the next bend and spy on his heels while he pushed, not acting as if he had been waiting to be sure he was okay, and not wanting him to feel that he was holding him. He punctuated the trip by looking at the orchids, explaining the story, talking to the locals, stopping for snacks and enjoying the views. I went for a walk, I took slow and steady, regulated my breathing, counted mileposts, took pictures and completed the walk to Choquequirao - one of only a handful on the track that day! Having Sam with us meant that we got to see some of the places that many others might not have known - the Flame terraces in particular - and also be able to explain the meaning of these places. It also meant that we got up early, losing the heat and experiencing the early morning mists swirling over the ruins. In the afternoon we headed to our night stop among the clouds of red and black velvet flutterbys and later that evening we sat in front row seats for a magnificent spectacle of lightning and thunder in the valley. Machu Picchu was a contrast, for the people and the bustle, but still impressive. We...
