RSPB Balranald in Outer Hebrides
This video speaks about RSPB Balranald in Outer Hebrides. It is a very good place to have a walk, to see birds and to take photos of nature.
Explore a wildlife-rich grassland haven on the beautiful Scottish island of North Uist. This stunning Hebridean nature reserve has sweeping sandy beaches, a rocky foreshore, wild marshes and sculpted sand dunes. It's the perfect place to learn about traditional crofting agriculture, corncrakes and other wildlife.
There is a campsite close to this place.

Harlequin Duck - 1st March 2013, Balranald RSPB, North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, UK
Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) at Balranald RSPB, on North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, United Kingdom, 1st March 2013.
I'll admit it's a poor video - in fact, it's dreadful - I had much better views through the scope, but these didn't film well. I couldn't go all that way and not at least try to film it... This drake showed well on the rocks and on the sea, occasionally feeding amongst the kelp.
Glaucous Gull - 1st March 2013, Balranald RSPB, North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, UK
Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) at Balranald RSPB, on North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, United Kingdom, 1st March 2013/
This 1st-winter bird showed well on the beach around 200 metres north of the drake Harlequin Duck (a rare visitor to the UK).

Gyr Falcon (Falco rusticolus) at Balranald, North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, UK, on 30th March 2016.
Some footage of this 1st-winter female white morph Gyr Falcon sat on a fence post. Later in the video, the bird is mobbed by Common Gulls and goes for a little walk. Apologies for the sound (very windy) and heat haze later on.

Scotflight's Benbecula North Uist complete
This is Version 2 a more polished version I hope. Used Serif's word read as I dont talk so good and added music hoping to convey the some of spirit of the Western Isles. Continuing my Odyssey of the Western Isles arriving at Benbecula, North Uist, as I breath a little life into Benbecula. The JCB is engaged in beach tidying ( the Islands council have invested in the latest robotic gizmos), NATO truck going from Rocket Range to Airport of a classified nature, If I divulged I would have to etc ;-) The visitor in KR 200 stopped to photograph the JCB being a avid JCB twitchier. Airport worker in Landrover spending lunch hour intending to soak up some rays. Welcome to my alternate World lol.

CORN BUNTING IN SONG (Emberiza calandra)
Male Corn Bunting giving it all he's got. Filmed at Marshfield, South Glos., England. 5.6.14. The last stronghold of this bunting in our area. It has undergone drastic declines in the UK over the past decades. Mainly due to intensive modern farming practises. A sad loss from many areas where I saw them commonly in my youth.
