For our first adventure we visited Old Moor in Barnsley on Sunday 24th July 2016 where we saw a Kingfisher, Little Egrets, a Green Woodpecker and even (you guessed it) a Woodpigeon!

BITTERN HIDE
Kingfisher, Heron, Lapwing, Woodpigeon, Coot, Great-Crested Grebe, Moorhen, Cormorant, Pochard, Mute Swan, Jackdaw, Canada Geese, Black-Headed Gull, Little Grebe, Widgeon, Sanderling, Sandmartin, Magpie, Blackbird.
REED BED HIDE
Green Woodpecker, Greenfinch.
FAMILY HIDE
Greenshank, Snipe, Common Sandpiper, Tufted Duck, Scaup, Shoveler, Starlings, Gadwall, Lesser Black-Backed Gull, Greylag Goose.
FIELD POOL WEST HIDE
Little Egret, Carrion Crow, Fox, Rabbit, Goldfinch, Oystercatcher, Pied Wagtail, Common Gull, Little-Ringed Plover.

Old Moor RSPB Reserve is an amazing place to take the kids. We love birdwatching as a family, and what better environment RTO bring up our children.
Buddy loves exploring, and the weather was great last friday.

This is a video of the female peregrine falcon at RSPB Old Moore Barnsley, Just after capturing a wood pigeon and eating it she wanted a drink of water. However the lake was iced over, these events are filmed as she tries to get a drink.
This female is one of 2016's offspring from Wakefield.

Wombwell Woods
A very old woodland near Barnsley South Yorkshire with a footprint that dates back to at least the Doomsday Book. A mix of broadleaved wood and open spaces make this a lovely spot for a walk, great views over Wombwell and lots of wildlife to see.
