The Glasgow Garden Festival 1988
The Glasgow Garden Festival was the third of the five National Garden Festivals, and the only one to take place in Scotland.
It was held in Glasgow between 26 April and 26 September 1988. It was the first event of its type to be held in the city in 50 years, since the Empire Exhibition of 1938, and also marked the centenary of Glasgow's first International Exhibition, the International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry of 1888.
Glasgow Gangs | Scotland |Frankie Vaughan |This Week |1968
There has been much recent press comment violence, in Glasgow and the reasons for it. Llew Gardner looks at the world of the new estates and old, demolished, slums through the eyes of three of these teenage gangs, the Shamrock, the Cumbie and the Spur. How can their aggressions, insecurity, and the need to belong to something be met?
‘THIS WEEK’ looks at the constructive attempts of three different approaches, the local authority, the one man, one shot crusade of Frankie Vaughan and the unrelenting efforts of a Glasgow Minister the Rev. John Webster.

They said: With University of Malawi College of Medicine and Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Clinical Research Programme we have been awarded £2million from Scottish Government, Wellcome and World Bank to establish a clinical research laboratory in Malawi. This facility will undertake the 'Blantyre-Blantyre’ study to address health needs identified in partnership with Malawian colleagues that are also a challenge for Scotland. We are also training the next generation of Malawian scientists by establishing The Beit-Glasgow Masters Scholarships programme training two students each year for the next 5 years. Our partnerships are therefore benefitting health, education and infrastructure in both Malawi and Scotland.

Yes Scotland Better together Economically Aye sure
Lords Committee questions Professor Gavin McCrone on economic implications of Scottish independence 29 May 2012
Professor McCrone He Wanted the UK Government to set up an oil fund but the UK government did not do that but just spend the revenues.
Professor McCrone Scotland has been successful in attracting investment into Scotland for many years .
Whatever happens to the UK the EU is the UK`s main trading partner and Scotland is in a very good position to attract companies to export to the EU anyone thinking in trading in the EU would consider trading in Scotland an appropriate place to be.
If Scotland was independent then England would be at a more disadvantage position then Scotland within the EU.
Lord Lawrence (Conservative) asked if the Shetland Islander's wanted to stay with the UK if Scotland became independent. Professor Gavin McCrone replied, It has never been said suggested by any Shetland Islander wanted to stay with the UK if Scotland became independent. That brings me to what the UK Prime Minister David Cameron said, Consequences ?
Does Mr Cameron mean Annexing Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands from Scotland so the English can keep the Scottish OIL? Is that why Lord Lawrence asked if the Shetland Islander's wanted to stay with the UK if Scotland became independent.
One has to wonder who put ex-Conservative Minister the Earl of Caithness, to Tabled amendments to the Scotland Bill, a vote in a referendum which results in Scotland leaving the United Kingdom shall not be binding on the residents of the Orkney Islands or the Shetland Islands.
It seems this is yet another veil threat from a UK English Parliament to Scoland this is 2012 not 1707??
