Your Next Destination : Rail Museum(Howrah)
Rail museum of Howrah is one of the railway museum of India where you can see evaluation of Indian railway.
Few rare steam locomotives, first electric loco build in India, engine used by east Pakistan Railway etc. are displayed.
The museum which preserved the heritage of the development of railway system of Eastern India has further been beautified with the inclusion of various items having broad historicity. Now to attract more visitors, the first AC electric locomotive which dates back to November, 1960 will be on display. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the display through remote control from Howrah station.
For the convenience of visitors, the visiting hours of Regional Rail Museum, Eastern Railway, Howrah has been revised with effect from January 8. As per new timings, the museum will now remain open from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm instead of current timings of 1 pm to 8 pm. The museum will remain closed on Thursday as usual.

North of the station there is a railway museum displaying artefacts of historical importance related to the development of Eastern Railway. For many years the Fairy Queen, the world's oldest operational steam locomotive, was displayed on a plinth inside the station..
Howrah Railway Museum .... This is a suitable place for visiting with kids as most of the kids love to train. There are many model of steam engines, which may be new thing for present generation kids. One steam locomotives, which originally belonged to Pakistan railway is also there. This museum also houses first electric locomotives built in India in 1961 by Chittaranjan locomotives work. Many more locomotives, which were built during the period 1900-1915 are also there. The presence of toy train is an additional attraction of this museum. The toy train departs from a miniature form of Howrah station. It is amazing. There are many more photos, which describe the history of Indian railway...

The Great Indian Railways at National Rail Museum, Delhi, IN [4K]
FIRST GOODS TRAIN in INDIA ran on 22 December, 1851 between Roorkee - Piran Kaliyar.
First Indian Passenger Train ran on 16 April, 1853 between CSTM - TNA (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus-Thane) at 3:35 P.M.
This Museum is Adjacent to Bhutan Embassy near Safdarjung Railway Station.

Attractions: Collection Of Old Locomotives And Carriages of Indian Railways.
The Rail Transport Museum is a must for rail buffs. There are models of train engines and coaches and it is a train-lovers delight. Its pride is a model of India's very first train, a steam engine that made its journey from Mumbai to Thane in 1853.
The locomotives here are all displayed in the open although there is a museum as well, which is a storehouse of information on the history of railways in India.
Its vintage displays include the oldest locomotive in the world-still working; the Viceregal Dining Car (1889) and the Prince of Wales Saloon (1875), Maharaja of Mysore's Saloon (1899), Maharaja of Baroda's Saloon (1886).
The royal saloons are definitely worth a look for the elaborate interior design. To enter the royal saloons one has to buy a ticket.
The star attraction is the Fairy Queen, built in 1855, and considered to be the best preserved steam locomotive engines of her age. Children can enjoy a ride on the miniature rail track.
New Delhi was declared the capital of India by Emperor George V at the Delhi Darbar on 12th December, 1911. It is the third largest city in India which consists of two parts, the Old & the New.

Exploring Howrah Rail Museum | Great Place For Kids To Learn About Railways (2019)
Inaugurated in April 2006, Howrah Rail Museum highlights the history of the Indian Railways operating in the eastern part of the country.
On the left hand side of the entrance is Hall of Fame, where slices of history have been presented through display boards, coaches and engines, and models. A photographic display board will take you through the evolution of locomotives, carriages and wagons.
On the right side there is an open arena with railway tracks housing a array of different vintage locomotives. It contains an interesting combination of narrow gauge steam engines to electric and diesel locomotives. It also consists of a railway engine belonging to the East Pakistan Railway. During the 1971 Indo – Pak war this Pakistani engine made its way into Indian territory and was captured by the Indian Army.
At the centre of the circle and standing on an elevated mound is a tower whose octagonal shape is representative of the East Indian Railway and seven other railways that served this region. The hut shaped kiosks namely Virasat, Smritiyan, Vidyut and Doorsanchaar, scattered within the garden present a medley of interesting historical memorabilia.
The Hall of Heritage, designed like a mini Howrah Station, contains old photographs, displays highlighting historical and anecdotal references, old gadgets, etc. Next to it is the starting point of a toy train that takes visitors on a short circular ride through the complex.
