To start your journey take the train from Central Station Grand Concourse towards Katoomba Station, where you’ll take the Loop bus at Bathurst Road that takes you to Echo Point Lookout, Scenic world and back.
If you are taking the Train and using the Opal Card it will only set you back $2.80 if you are visiting the blue mountains on a Sunday.
On the way back head down to Leura for its vintage offering and nice cafes, perfect stop before heading back to Sydney.

A train ride from Sydney to Brisbane on NSW TrainLink XPT
XPT is a long distance interstate train which is operated by NSW TrainLink of New South Wales from Sydney and one of these routes are connecting Sydney and Brisbane in Queensland. I used the cheapest class fare on this train, the Economy Class costs $45 (non-refundable) and the 14 hour journey takes too long for me on a train like this but Australians think that these train journeys are considered medium.

Unusual Electric Train Tours Sydney from 1965
Daylight XPT Melbourne to Sydney
(Best watched in 1080p HD) Based on the British HST hauling Budd passenger trailers, the Australian built XPTs entered service on NSW country services in 1982. In 1993, they replaced locomotive hauled services between Sydney and Melbourne. In September 2018, we had the opportunity to ride the Northbound Daylight, the 0830 Melbourne to Sydney XPT. The train takes eleven and a half hours to cover the 960km (600 miles) between the two state capitals. This epic journey takes in sprawling city suburbs and sleepy country towns. Crossing the Great Dividing Range twice, we see the rugged moors of the Southern Highlands and acres of agricultural land, where brightly coloured canola fields (rapeseed oil) abound. The train makes 17 intermediate stops, including the original break-of-gauge station at Aldbury where, until 1962, we would have had to change train from the Victorian broad gauge to a standard gauge NSW service. The sleepy station at Yass Junction holds an unexpected secret. Each day, a bus connects with the Daylight XPT to carry passengers onward to Canberra, the Capital City of Australia. It's quicker to take the 1 hour bus journey than to carry on to Goulburn and catch a Southbound train along the Canberra branch.

Parramatta railway station is a herigate-listed railway station located on the Main Western line, serving the Sydney suburb of Parramatta in New South Wales, Australia. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western Line, T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland Line services and NSW TrainLink Blue Mountains Line, Central West XPT and Outback Xplorer services.
Parramatta station is one of Sydney's oldest. Sydney's first line connected Sydney and Parramatta Junction near Granville and opened on 26 September 1855. It was extended to the current Parramatta station on 4 July 1860.
Prior to the Main Western line being quadrupled from Granville to Westmead in 1985, the station consisted of four platforms, platforms 3 and 4 on the main line and 1 and 2 on a loop.
In late 2003, work began on a new transport interchange which linked the station to the neighbouring Westfield Parramatta shopping centre. The works included upgrading the station, providing more access to commuters, and constructing a new bus interchange. On 19 February 2006 the interchange was opened.

SP34 - The afternoon Ex-Canberra Xplorer is one of six daily services that operate between Sydney and Canberra. The train departs Canberra Kingston at exactly 12 noon for a 4:14 hour journey from Canberra to Sydney over a distance of 321 kilometres. It traverses through the farms and mines of the Southern Highlands before making a final run through the suburbs of Sydney and terminating at Central Sydney Terminal.
In total, there were approximately 170 people using this service at this day.

Australian Trains: Sydney Great Train Expo Excursion
A heritage rail tour train in Sydney headed by steam locomotive 3642.
As part of Sydney's Great Train Expo, 3642 (with the assistance of historic diesel 4001), participated in The Great Train Race between Central & Strathfield.
The train then passed through North Strathfield to Rhodes, before returning to Central.
