The Madeira-Mamoré Railway Complex
Some months after being flooded by the Madeira River in Porto Velho.
Reinauguração do Parque Madeira-Mamoré 2010 【S.RIO】
English (Google translation):
On Sunday afternoon the day December 5, 2010 part of the collection of the Madeira-Mamore Railway was handed over to the population portovelhense by the Municipality of Porto Velho. This is the Madeira-Mamore square, which after a long period of retirement is finally open to visitors, without even being done with everything.
According to a large plate (near the square), the company would still be hired by the deadline, as this sign says that the date of completion was scheduled for February 2011 ... but it seems as if it were a Christmas present, the city government decided to re-inaugurate before.
The square has a new look, more comfortable and inviting with a large lawn, trees and anything without those kiosks, and vehicular and railway station (where they sell crafts) have been fully renovated, among many other attractions such as the largest of them (exempting any human endeavor), the Madeira River.
With the recovery of the square of the Madeira-Mamore Museum, which runs inside one of the sheds recovered, also returned to work, receiving many visitors this Sunday, and more, the boat trips are slowly returning to normal, with the route that from the square to the works of St. Anthony of HPU.
The sad reality is that all this beauty is counted with DAYS ... yes, because in short order vandals will start trashing this space recently reopened in order that the municipality of Porto Velho has a municipal guard which is intended to curb such practice.
PS: the worst is knowing that most of the writers and destroyers of public spaces in downtown Porto Velho are STUDENTS!

1-Wide shot of studio lot for Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the XIX Century

3- Various shots of filming
4- Pre-roll of Actress Betty Lago
5- SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Betty Lago, Actress - What we are doing is a satire of the events of the arrival of the Portuguese Royal Family in Brazil. So, if we are talking about the importance of this mini-series, it´s important because it shows things that
are not in the history books. So, it´s very interesting.
6- Wide shot of filming a scene between the Queen Carlota Joaquina and her son, Dom Pedro I, the Heir to the Throne
7- SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Betty Lago, Actress - I think that the critics have exaggerated, because, first of all, they
are saying that the fact that the Actress that does the young Carlota Joaquina is 10 years-old and is in a scene where she is in bed with the King Dom Joao VI, and these were facts that really happened. They weren't invented by the authors to embellish the mini-series.
8- Wide shot of filming
9- Zoom-in from wide shot to close-up of church tower on the set
10- Zoom-out from close-up of church tower on model to wide of model in the exhibition at the National Museum of Fine Arts

14- Close-up of costume jewelry
15- Wide of male costume
16- Pre-roll shot of Maria Ferreira da Silva
17- SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Maria Ferreira da Silva, Housewife - I think that it´s a big opportunity for people to see closely what were the outfits on that time, the controversy that is happening due to the way they are showing the sex scenes, but, it really exists since the beginning of the world.
18- Zoom-out from television showing the making off of the mini-series to
wide shot of copy of the room of the King Dom Joao VI
19- Wide shot of the room
20- Various shots of drawing
21- Pre-roll shot of Willem Van Beekhoff

HISTORICAL DRAMA STEAMS UP CRITICS
A steamy period television series inspired by Brazil's nineteenth century break from Portugal has been labelled too raunchy by its critics and prompted debate around the country.
'O Quinto dos Infernos' which translates roughly to 'Beyond Hell' is broadcast on Brazil's main network Globo TV after 11pm at night, and follows the events leading to Brazil's independence from Portugal.
The story aims to offer a portrait of the social and political realities in Brazil at that time, highlighting the contrast between the nobility and the notorious ignorance of the Portuguese Royals.
But the programme comes complete with comedy, romance and plenty of sex.
A country famous for including naked women in its carnival parade at the Sambadrome can hardly be called a nation of prudes. Yet viewers have been complaining about the series' content, and the show has become a hotly discussed topic across the nation.
The tale starts with the arrival of a young Spanish girl, Carlota Joaquina, in Portugal in 1785, and her forced marriage to King D. Joao VI. The story continues with the arrival of the Portuguese Royal Family in Brazil in 1808, and ends with the return to Portugal of Carlota's son and royal heir, Dom Pedro I.
But the historical story is spiced up with the womanising adventures of Dom Pedro I and the power hungry manipulations of his mother, Carlota Joaquina.

Our visit Rio De Janeiro travel guide documentary, before the Olympics of 2016, covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and Rio at night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Rio De Janeiro tourism brochure or Rio De Janeiro, Brasil city tour.
25 Things to do in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Transcript:
First up, we started with the city’s most iconic sight: Christ Redeemer. We boarded the train as soon as the station opened and made our way to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Sometimes the statue can be shielded by fog, but we lucked out with beautiful blue skies and panoramic views of the city as far as the eye could see.
For a bit of colour, we headed over to the Selaron Steps, which is a tiled staircase created by Chilean artist, Jorge Selarón. Initially Selaron would scavenge construction sites looking for tiles, but in later years as his work gained notoriety, travellers began donating tiles.
Since we chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, we ended up spending quite a bit of time at Ipanema Beach. We noticed that this beach was really popular for beach football, volleyball, and surfing. And of course, what makes this beach so iconic are its two mountains, known as Dois Irmãos. If you come here on a clear day, you can catch a killer sunset.
No visit to Rio de Janeiro would be complete without heading up Sugarloaf Mountain, so when the skies finally cleared that’s exactly what we did. We paid for our tickets and boarded the cable car for a somewhat unnerving ride up. If you’re scared of heights, this probably isn’t the attraction for you, however, if you manage to make it to the top you get some really cool panoramic views of Rio.
Copacabana Beach is the most famed beach in all of Rio de Janeiro and if you were to visit on a weekend during the summer months you’d find that the place is packed beyond belief. We happened to be here in winter so things were a lot more relaxed, but that didn’t stop visitors from braving the waters.
We did a favela tour to Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira. On our tour we saw lots of street art, learned about life inside a favela.
And that is a wrap! We hope this video will give you guys some ideas of things to do in Rio de Janeiro on your visit, and for those travellers who have already been there, feel free to add your suggestion of cool activities and attractions in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in Brazil video series showcasing Brazilian food, Brazilian culture and Brazilian cuisine.
