Security has been tightened up following Sunday's suicide bomb attack on a Russian train station as the country prepares to host the Winter Olympics.
Investigators have confirmed that 16 people died in the blast in the entrance hall at Volgograd station.
CCTV footage captured the moment of the explosion .....the hall had been packed with people getting away for New Year celebrations.
But it could have been worse if it had not been for 29-year-old police officer Dmitry Makovkin who is said to have died preventing the suicide bomber from entering the main part of the station.
However there is confusion over just who was the attacker - initial reports said it was a woman from Dagestan which is now the centre of a long running Islamist insurgency. But later the authorities said it could have been a man.

RUSSIA: MOSCOW: FEAR FOR HOMELESS AS WINTER APPROACHES
Russian/Nat
As the Russian winter approaches Moscow police are waiting for the seasonal deluge of homeless searching for a warm corner in the capital.
Several new centres for the homeless have been built outside Moscow as part of a presidential decree to clear the streets.
Yet the police admit that most of those they detain soon end up back in the city.
But a former dissident, himself homeless, is trying to break the vicious circle. He hopes his newspaper for Moscow's street people could put them on the first step of the long road home.
Moscow's railway stations daily channel thousands of people into and out of the Russian capital.
But for hundreds of others, this is the place they call home.
And with winter approaching, city police await the seasonal flood of homeless to Moscow.
President Boris Yeltsin decreed a crackdown on tramps and beggars in July. Since then over 18-thousand homeless people have been shipped out of the city.
Most end up at detention-rehabilitation centres like this.
New arrivals are checked in, washed and fed for 30 days before being sent back to their original hometowns.
But police admit that the operation shows no sign of reducing the number of homeless on Moscow's streets.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
Even though police activity has increased and we are spending more time on getting this sort of citizen back to where they came from, our opinion is that the number of homeless coming to Moscow in the next few years is unlikely to decrease.
SUPER CAPTION: Colonel Vitaly Gunenkov, Moscow City Police
The problem is simple.
Many of the homeless in the police centres lack the documents needed in Russia to gain work.
New documents can only be issued in the city they came from - in some cases thousands of kilometres away.
With no home there or means to support themselves, it is easier to jump off the train at the first stop and get back to Moscow.
Thirty days food and shelter free of charge are incentive enough for some simply to wait for the police van to call.
But police claim crime committed by Moscow's homeless community is on the rise - up 14 percent on last year.
Forced to steal in order to survive, the criminalisation of the homeless makes authorities even less willing to solve the problem.
Former Soviet dissident Pinkhos Podrabinek, himself homeless since Brezhnev's time, believes his newspaper can help break the vicious circle.
It carries articles on how to navigate the rabbit-warren of Russian bureaucracy and make the first steps to a new life.
But he admits it is often a thankless task - not least because many of Moscow's homeless have given up hope and got used to life on the streets.
SOUNDBITE (Russian):
It's almost impossible to help a true homeless person get back on their feet unless that is what he really wants
SUPER CAPTION: Pinkhos Podrabinek, former dissident
Podrabinek distributes his paper free of charge at the charity soup kitchens near Moscow's stations.
With no funding, most editions run to only 50 copies - pitifully inadequate, he admits.
But from the days when he and fellow dissidents passed around hand-printed forbidden texts, he maintains the belief that a little can go a long way.
For his readers, Podrabinek's newspaper is at least a welcome break from bureaucratic indifference and police pressure.
SOUNDBITE (Russian):
My papers and money were stolen at the railway station. I have no idea where to turn. If you ask the police here, they just laugh at you. They say it's your own fault.
SUPER CAPTION: Anya, homeless in Moscow

Russia: Russian ball boys train up ahead of World Cup
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
Russian ball boys were filmed training for the World Cup at the Sokolniki training centre in Moscow on Thursday.
Their coach Oleg Kuzhelev explained that the boys have been asked not to show support for any team while on duty.
“They were asked not to support any national team, not to talk to anybody. It is really hard for them, of course. I clearly saw it in their behaviour they wanted to go to the players, ask them for T-shirts and autographs, but it is strictly prohibited,” he said.
According to the ball boys they are excited to be part of the World Cup and don’t feel any pressure.
“I am really glad and happy I made it to this ball boys team,” Aleksander Popov said. His teammate Ivan Tereschenko agreed. “Without a doubt, we all are glad to be part of this, not only as spectators at the World Cup, but also as a participants.”
The 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15, 2018.
A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11 cities across Russia, with the final set to take place in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced over 2,100 original films.
My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects.
Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!
I am very fortunate that I can spend a large part of my life travelling, thanks to the business I chose to run which allows me to do this. There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!
A long way from Russia to the north of Thailand to Tam Wua Monastery.
This time I decided to go to Wat Tam Wua Monastery right from Russia. December 10, in the evening I had a flight from my city to Moscow. December 11, after waiting 7 hours there was a flight to Bangkok.
I arrived in Bangkok at 9 pm, I felt that I was tired of the road and decided to booking some hostel to relax. In airport have free wi-fi. I chose The Spades Hostel in center of Bangkok.
To get to the center of Bangkok from Suvarnabhumi Airport you need to go down to the B floor, pay for the train to Phaya Thai station in a vending machine for 45 baht, this is the terminal station.
The hostel was not far from this station but I was tired and for 50 baht the bike taxi driver took me to the hostel.
I liked the Spades hostel, everything was pretty clean and quiet, the neighbors were not noisy, the price is 330 baht per night, they give you a clean towel, and you can always have coffee or some free coffee, the reception also has nice cafe.
The day after the checkout, I left my bag with them for a while, and after, a walk I took it and went to Chatuchak bus station, which is located at the Mochit metro station.
There I bought a ticket to Chiang Mai for 529 baht, departure time was at 18:50, also many buses go to Chiang Mai every day almost every 2 hours.
Since there was still a lot of time before departure, I went to the Amazon cafe, where I drank a cappuccino for 45 baht, also charged my gadgets and surfing on the Internet.
Arrived in Chiang Mai early in the morning, at 6 a.m. Waited until the ticket office opens to buy a ticket to the city of Mae Hong Son, the ticket costs 250 baht, it takes 5 hours to go, you need to ask the driver to stop in Tam Wua, since the monastery is earlier than the city of Mae Hong Song
From the main road to the monastery you need to walk another couple of kilometers. They will register you (maximum 10 days can arrive), give you white clothes and put them in a dorm or give a personal house.
Thanks for reading and good luck ;)
