Activists at Tel - Aviv's beach
Suddenly a conversation is created, suddenly intimacy is created - and all fears dissolve - we do the opposite of what our government is doing - trying to scare, trying to keep away. Thousands of Palestinian children and their families arrived on the coast of Tel Aviv this summer for days of fun at the beach. The activities are organized by women from MachsomWatch and Israeli peace activities, along with Palestinian peace activists from the West Bank.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

It was the city's 19th pride parade and according to Tel Aviv's municipality, the largest in the Middle East and Asia, with a high number of international revelers arriving over the course of the week to take part in the parade and its related events. This year, the theme of the parade was bisexual visibility.
Not everyone at the parade was there to celebrate, however. Dozens of Israeli LGBTQ activists at one point blocked the Tel Aviv parade in protest against Israel's occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The protesters erected a mock separation barrier upon which was written, “There’s no pride in occupation, the website +972 Magazine reported. The protesters prevented the parade from proceeding through the city center for a few minutes, but were swiftly moved by police.
Pride parades are expected to be held in Be'er Sheva and Haifa and August in Jerusalem later on this month.
Tel Aviv, Israel Gay Pride Parade 2012 - The complete story
Tens of thousands of people are expected to take part on Friday in Tel Aviv's 14th Gay Pride Parade, which will kick off from Gan Meir park, rounding up a week of gay pride events.
Traffic is expected to be gridlocked as several city thoroughfares will be closed to traffic from 7 A.M. to 4 P.M.
Thousands of tourists have come to Israel to join the parade, organizers said.
The carnival will begin at Gan Meir at 10 A.M. with performances and speeches. Scheduled speakers include U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, opposition leader Shelly Yacimovich (Labor ), MKs Zehava Galon and Nitzan Horowitz (Meretz ) and Tel Aviv council member Yael Dayan.
At 11 A.M. the municipality will paint a pedestrian crossing at the corner of Bograshov and Shalom Aleichem in the rainbow colors of the gay pride flag. The parade, to be led by floats carrying dancers and drag queens, is slated to move out from Gan Meir at 1 P.M. It will pass through the usual route along Tchernichovsky, Bograshov, Ben Yehuda, Arlozorov and Hayarkon streets, culminating at Gordon Beach with a huge party in the scorching sun.
An American Airlines survey published in the Gay Cities website hailed Tel Aviv as the best gay tourism city in the world. The survey reflects the warm welcome gay tourists receive in Tel Aviv, said Adir Steiner, coordinator of gay pride events for the Tel Aviv Municipality.
