Since YouTube is working extremely hard to make it impossible for small channels with niche content to survive, Patreon is one of the few remaining ways to hopefully see at least some ROI on all the effort that goes into making these videos.
From getting hardware to planning and editing shoots, accommodation costs to gas, toll, repairs and taxes - these costs are adding up quickly. Most important of all, time is limited. These efforts have to start paying for themselves. Otherwise, there's no way this can continue, hence the current 8-season limit if the community-based goal isn't met in August 2020.
Shutting this down would be a shame. There's loads of great content in all kinds of gorgeous locations to share.

Alice Springs is the third largest town in the Northern Territory, Australia. Popularly known as the Alice or simply Alice, Alice Springs is situated in the geographic centre of Australia near the southern border of the Northern Territory.[2] The site is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around what is now Alice Springs for thousands of years. Alice in the English-language was named by surveyor W. W. Mills after Lady Alice Todd (née Alice Gillam Bell), wife of Sir Charles Todd. Alice Springs has a population of 25,186 people, which makes up 12 percent of the territory's population.[3] Alice averages 576 metres (1,890 ft) above sea level;[citation needed] the town is nearly equidistant from Adelaide, South Australia and Darwin.
The town of Alice Springs straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges. The region where Alice Springs is located is known as Central Australia, or the Red Centre, and is an arid environment consisting of several different deserts. In Alice Springs, temperatures can vary dramatically with an average maximum temperature in summer of 35.6 °C (96.1 °F), and an average minimum temperature in winter of 5.1 °C (41.2 °F).[4]
Alice Springs is also the only significant town in Australia named after an Australian woman.[citation needed]
The Arrernte Aboriginal people[5] have made their home in the Central Australian desert in and around the site of the future Alice Springs for thousands of years, with evidence suggesting Indigenous occupation of the region dating back at least 30,000 years.[6] The Aboriginal name for Alice Springs is Mparntwe.[7] Many Arrernte people also live in communities outside of Alice Springs and on outstations.[citation needed]
Three major groups: the Western, Eastern and Central Arrernte people live in Central Australia, their traditional land including the area of Alice Springs and MacDonnell Ranges. They are also referred to as Aranda, Arrarnta, Arunta, and other similar spellings. Their neighbours are the Southern Arrernte, Luritja, Anmatyerr, Alyawarr and Western Arrernte peoples. There are five dialects of the Arrernte language: South-eastern, Central, Northern, Eastern and North-eastern.[citation needed]
There are roughly 1,800 speakers of Eastern and Central Arrernte, making it the largest spoken language in the Arandic family.[citation needed] This is one of the largest populations to speak any Australian language.[citation needed] It is taught in schools, and heard in local media and local government.[citation needed]
Arrernte country is rich with mountain ranges, waterholes, and gorges, which create a variety of natural habitats. The Arrernte people have set aside conservation areas in which various animal and other species are protected.[citation needed] According to the Arrernte traditional stories, in the desert surrounding Alice Springs, the landscape was shaped by caterpillars, wild dogs, travelling boys, two sisters, euros, and other ancestral figures.[7]

Trephina Gorge, MacDonnell Ranges, Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia 2011
Trephina Gorge, in the East MacDonnell Ranges, is noted for its sheer quartzite cliffs and River Red Gum lined watercourses.
Two gorges dissect the range: Trephina, with its wide views and sandy creekbed, and John Hayes Rock Hole with steep, narrow rock walls. The Territory Government, in partnership with Traditional Owners, have finalised the Joint Management Plan for Trephina Gorge Nature Park. Joint Management Plans provide direction for the future management of a Park, and outline how the interests of the community, Traditional Owners and conservation will be served.

LEAD IN:
Endangered scarlet (red) macaws born in captivity are reproducing in the wild for the first time in Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast.
The ZooAve Centre for the Rescue of Endangered Species has released 100 of the birds into the wild in the last decade.
Biologists from the centre spotted the offspring in the wild last year.
Since then, they have recorded 22 chicks born in the wild, and four more scarlet macaw couples have laid eggs, according to the centre.
It's good news for the conservationists who have been breeding the birds in captivity.
STORYLINE :
They are the most recognisable parrots, with bright red plumage and rainbow colours on their wings
Scarlet macaws once occupied all of Costa Rica.
But hunting and poaching dramatically cut their population, and they are now found only in two national parks along the coast.
The ZooAve breeding centre, located in the province of Alajuela in the Costa Rican Central Valley, is home to some 115 species of birds.
Federico Guillen, Executive of Fauna Freedom Mission at ZooAve says the macaws at the centre represent a genetic bank and it is important to reintroduce the species back into the wild.
At ZooAve the eggs are observed carefully until the birth of the baby birds.
The tiny creatures are kept in the nest boxes until they are able to feed by themselves.
Then, they are separated of their parents and live in special cages where they can learn how to fly.
After some months they become a social group.
Then at six months, they take a 200-mile (322-kilometre) trip to the southern city of Golfito, then travel by boat to a beach and finally the isolated San Josecito conservation centre far from human settlements.
There, they learn how to eat their food in a natural way by using the forest supplies.
