Visiting the TAJ MAHAL a WORLD WONDER + Day Trip to Fatehpur Sikri | Agra, India
On my fourth day in India I teamed up with Tours by Locals to explore the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri. Tours by Locals in Agra:
TRAVEL HUSTLE REPEAT GEAR ►
MY FILM MAKING KIT ►
The best way to get to Agra from Delhi is to take the high speed train which is called the Gatiman Express. It take's only 90 minutes to get to Agra. The train runs everyday (except Friday) at 8:10 am.
When I arrived Shanoo my Tours by Locals guide picked me up and took me straight to the Taj Mahal. This is the most beautiful building in the world! It is my 4th wonder and it was truly amazing!
After that we went to Handicraft Marble Industries to see how the same families that made the Taj Mahal still put inlays in to marble. This is definitely a must visit after seeing the Taj Mahal.
Lastly we headed to Fatehpur Sikri a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located around a 45 minute drive South West of Agra. Fatehpur Sikri was founded as the capital of Mughal Empire in 1571 by Emperor Akbar, serving this role from 1571 to 1585. It was abandoned in 1610. If you have two days in Agra then you have to go visit Fatehpur Sikri!
I hope you loved this video! Have you ever been to the Taj Mahal or any other of the seven wonders of the world or Fatehpur Sikri?

Cheap Hotels In Agra India:
Agra (/ˈɑːɡrə/ (About this soundlisten)) is a city on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.[8] It is 206 kilometres (128 mi) south of the national capital New Delhi. Agra is the fourth-most populous city in Uttar Pradesh and 24th in India.[9]
Agra is a major tourist destination because of its many Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.[8] Agra is included on the Golden Triangle tourist circuit, along with Delhi and Jaipur; and the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc, a tourist circuit of Uttar Pradesh, along with Lucknow and Varanasi. Agra is in the Braj cultural region.
The history of Agra before the Delhi Sultanate is unclear. A 17th century chronicle called it an old settlement which was merely a village, owing to its destruction by Mahmud of Ghazni, before Sikandar made it his capital.[10] The 11th-century Persian poet Mas'ūd Sa'd Salmān writes of an assault on the fortress of Agra, then held by King Jaypal, by Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni. Despite his surrender, Mahmud sacked the place.[11] It was mentioned for the first time in 1080 AD when a Ghaznavide force captured it. Sultan Sikandar Lodī (1488–1517) was the first to move his capital from Delhi to Agra in 1504, its administration having previously been under Bayana.[12][13] He governed the country from here and Agra assumed the importance of the second capital. He died in 1517 and his son, Ibrāhīm Lodī, remained in power there for nine more years. Several palaces, wells, and a mosque were built by him in the fort during his period. He was finally defeated at the Battle of Panipat in 1526.[14] Between 1540 and 1556, Afghans, beginning with Sher Shah Suri, ruled the area. It was the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1556 to 1648. The city was later taken by the Marathas and later still fell to the British Raj.

India Vlog: Agra Fort, Baby Taj, Taj Mahal Sunset!
February 14, 2015
instagram.com/timandglo
We were up early to catch our 6:00 am train from New Delhi Railway Station to Agra Fort Railway Station in Agra, Uttar Pradesh! Agra is home to what is arguably India's most famous cultural site: Taj Mahal! We didn't actually visit Taj Mahal on this day, opting to save it for a sunrise visit the following day. But we visited a couple other amazing places in Agra, which provided stunning view of Taj Mahal!
We booked our train tickets online before we arrived in India. You can create an account with IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation), which runs India's train e-ticketing system at You'll need an IRCTC account to book trains on sites like ClearTrip and MakeMyTrip. Hint: You don't need an Indian telephone number to register an account. Just make one up. ;)
We sat in the AC Chair Car Cabin, which was extremely comfortable. Cozy seats and free water, newspapers, and a hot meal!
Once in Agra, we took a rickshaw to the Radisson Blu. This is a beautiful hotel close to the east gate of Taj Mahal. They provide an excellent buffet breakfast!
We paid 1,850 rupees for an all day 4x4 car rental and guide, which we split with our friends. We used the car to see three sites: Agra Fort, the Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah (aka. baby Taj or little Taj), and Mehtab Bagh.
Of all the forts we saw in India on this trip, Agra Fort was our favorite! You can get amazing views of Taj Mahal from Agra Fort! Baby Taj is also worth a visit!
Finally we went to to Mehtab Bagh, a park located across the river from Taj Mahal. The way the light hits the Taj during the sunset is very romantic.
Traffic leaving Mehtab Bagh was horrible! It literally took an hour to drive a couple hundred meters. You've been warned. :p But it's worth it! :)
We were exhausted, so we had dinner at the restaurant in the lobby of Radisson Blu. We went for hearty burgers. Glo had chicken burger and Tim had a buffalo burger. Because cows are sacred in India, beef burgers are impossible to find. Fortunately, our chicken and buffalo burgers were delicious!
We hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day!!
As always, thank you for watching!!

Agra City Guide | Taj Mahal Travel Video in Uttar Pradesh, India Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning. Today we are in Agra (आगरा). How excited are you? Super excited. I mean 'hey guess what' there is a little kind of tiny attraction here we might be visiting. Maybe the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल). The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) is actually closed on Fridays and we didn't realize that until we got here. So we can't visit today but instead we're going to visit Agra Fort (आगरा का किला). Yeah. And maybe the Baby Taj Mahal. Yeah, and the good news is that I've actually been to Agra (آگرہ) before and I've been to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) and it is one of the most impressive I've ever visited in India. If this fort was outside of Agra (आगरा) it would be a standalone attraction in another city. So we're going to go check that out today and maybe check out the Taj from across the river. And then we have to buy tickets for the Taj. Right so busy day actually. Let's begin.
Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that draws big numbers, especially on a Friday when the Taj is closed. Admission to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is through the Amar Singh Gate, which is the south gate. Outside the gates you’ll find guides offering their services, so that’s something you can keep in mind if you’re looking to learn about the fort’s history and architecture.
So we've been getting all of these like teaser views of the Taj. Last night we had it during dinner and today we have this. And I think we're going to get one more vantage point later on in the day. And then finally tomorrow we actually visit it.
Once you walk through a series of gates, you’ll find yourself in a giant complex of marble palaces, inner courtyards and gardens, complete with wild monkeys running along the fort’s walls.
You also get some pretty cool views of the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) off in the distance - but we’ll show you an even better lookout point later in this video.
The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) was built by Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child in 1631. He wrote that the beauty of the structure made “the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes”, and while I may not have shed a tear, it’s a sight that did not disappoint.
So we made it to the Baby Taj Mahal (Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah - اعتماد الدولہ کا مقبر).
So our last stop of the day is the Mehtab Gardens (मेहताब बाग़ - مہتاب باغ,) which are directly behind the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) so you get some pretty cool views.
so that is a wrap from Agra (आगरा).
This is part of our Travel in India video series showcasing Indian food, Indian culture and Indian cuisine.

Travel India-Agra Fort 印度阿格拉红堡
Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, India. The fort is also known as Lal Qila, Fort Rouge and Red Fort of Agra. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its much more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled palatial city.
It is the most important fort in India. The great Mughals Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb lived here, and the country was governed from here.
The legend is that Shah Jahan built the beautiful Taj Mahal for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Unlike his grandfather, Shah Jahan tended to have buildings made from white marble, often inlaid with gold or semi-precious gems. He destroyed some of the earlier buildings inside the fort in order to make his own.
At the end of his life, Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb, in the fort, a punishment which might not seem so harsh, considering the luxury of the fort. It is rumored that Shah Jahan died in Muasamman Burj, a tower with a marble balcony with an excellent view of the Taj Mahal.
