Dr. Rajendra Prasad: A Tribute to the 1st President of Republic India | Folk singer Kalpana Patowary
A Tribute to the Bharat Ratna laureate, the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad (3 December 1884 – 28 February 1963), the Architect of modern India from Siwan Bihar who played a very active role in the freedom movement, and also made a special contribution in framing of the Constitution of India. This was during the folk queen Kalpana Patowary's visit to the Rajendra Smriti Sangrahalaya (Rajendra Memorial Museum), a small biographical museum and a heritage building located in city of Patna, Bihar at Sadakat Ashram dedicated to the life and works of the first President of India.
The museum houses his bed, paintings, spades and hammers used by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, for laying the stones of numerous infrastructure projects.
This visit was while making of her musical document Champaran Satyagraha where she reenacted Mahatma Gandhi’s arrival at Motihari on the occasion of 100 years of CHAMPARAN SATYAGRAH giving the movement a musical tribute to 100 years completion of Gandhiji’s satyagraha andolan. Her audio-visual on Champaran Satyagraha documents the historical fight of farmers against forced indigo cultivation under the British rule. The project features the Bhitiharwa ashram in Champaran which was initiated by Bapu himself.
Rajendra Smriti Sangrahalaya was established in the memory of the first president of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad. Before his presidency from 1952 to 1962, Dr Rajendra Prasad used to live and work in Bihar Vidyapeeth, which is now home to Rajendra Smriti Sangrahalaya.
During May 1962, the former president, after completing his presidency, returned to Patna and started living in the campus of Bihar Vidyapeeth. He occupied the same poorly constructed house, in which he used to reside prior to his presidency. In the same year, Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan helped in constructing a small house in a corner of Bihar Vidyapeeth's mango-grove.
Dr Rajendra Prasad, however died on 28th February 1963 and this place was constructed in order to showcase the contributions made by him and was originally called as Museum - Rajendra Smriti Sangrahalaya.

Patna Museum is the state museum of the Indian state of Bihar. Started on 3 April 1917 during the British Raj to house the historical artefacts found in the vicinity of Patna, it is in the style of Mughal and Rajput architecture and is known locally as the Jadu Ghar.
The Museum was constructed by the British to conserve and display the historical artifacts found in the vicinity of the state capital. The concept of having a museum arose in 1912, after Bihar and Bengal were separated. Patna Museum started functioning in 1915 from the commissioner's bungalow, on the campus of A. N. Sinha Institute.
The artifacts were then shifted to new rooms at the Patna High Court building before being taken to the present building in 1929. The land that was selected for the museum, in 1925, was on Patna-Gaya road (now Budh Marg). The two-storeyed building, designed by Rai Bahadur Bishnu Swarup, was completed in 1928.It was opened as the first museum of Bihar and Orissa Province by then Governor of Bihar and Orissa, Sir Hugh Lansdown Stephenson.
Items on display in the multipurpose museum include archaeological objects, coins, art objects, paintings, instruments, textiles, paintings, thankas, bronze images and sculptures and terra cotta images by Hindu and Buddhist artists. It has a rare collection of British-period paintings depicting day-to-day life, as well as a fine collection related to the first President of India, Rajendra Prasad. It also houses a World War I cannon.
The fossil of a tree said to be more than 200 million years old is on display,as is a casket — unearthed in 1958 by archaeologist, A. S. Altekar, at the Relic Stupa of Vaishali — said to contain the sacred ashes (relics) of Gautama Buddha. A Didarganj Yakshi statue, discovered on a Ganges riverbank in 1917, was the museum's most prized collection, which was later shifted to Bihar Museum. The artefacts from ancient India era to 1764 are kept in Bihar Museum and those of post-1764 period are kept at Patna Museum.Rahul sankrityayan donated 10000 manuscript which are written in Gold and silver on handmade papers and book on Buddhist philosophy that were once in the library of ancient Nalanda and Vikramshila university. These manuscript were taken to Tibet dating back of around 700 years ago before the destruction of these universities. These manuscripts were brought by him. Beginning November 2009, a project was started to build a replacement museum in Patna to enable the display of larger collections.
????thangka, variously spelt as thangka, tangka, thanka, or tanka (Nepali pronunciation: [ˈथान्का]; Tibetan: ཐང་ཀ་; Nepal Bhasa: पौभा), is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton, silk appliqué, usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Thangkas are traditionally kept unframed and rolled up when not on display, mounted on a textile backing somewhat in the style of Chinese scroll paintings, with a further silk cover on the front. So treated, thangkas can last a long time, but because of their delicate nature, they have to be kept in dry places where moisture will not affect the quality of the silk. Most thangkas are relatively small, comparable in size to a Western half-length portrait, but some are extremely large, several metres in each dimension; these were designed to be displayed, typically for very brief periods on a monastery wall, as part of religious festivals.
????Terracotta, terra cotta or terra-cotta (pronounced [ˌtɛrraˈkɔtta]; Italian: baked earth, from the Latin terra cocta), a type of earthenware, is a clay-based unglazed or glazed ceramic, where the fired body is porous. Terracotta is the term normally used for sculpture made in earthenware.
This article covers the senses of terracotta as a medium in sculpture, as in the Terracotta Army and Greek terracotta figurines, and architectural decoration.
