I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE DEVILS BRIDGE - RAKOTZBRUCKE GERMANY
When I knew I was going to Oktoberfest I booked my flights to germany landing in Berlin just so I could travel down and see the Devil's Bridge on my way. After trying for hours and hours the day before I had given up on my chances of getting to see it, booked a bus from Berlin to Munich, I was so disappointed but didn't want to let it ruin my trip so I headed out that night and then everything changed.
I want to say Thank you to Nadia and Richy again I really appreciated it and had a great day.
I would 100% recommend making the trip to the Devil's bridge, it is breath taking.

Rakotzbrücke bridge of dreams - Germany (HD1080p)
*** In Kromlauer Park in Gabriel, Saxony, there is a stone bridge called ''Rakotzbrucke'' built in 1860 AD. As long as it is at the right angle, with the right light and the right time, the stone bridge will form a perfect circle with its reflection on the lake. ***
Basteibrücke and Rakotzbrücke in Germany
Bastei is a beautiful region in the Saxon Switzerland region of Germany. The Bastei Bridge is a remarkable sight and if you manage to get there in the morning, especially in the off-season, you can get it all to yourself just as we did.
The Rakotzbrucke or the Devil's Bridge is a remarkable piece of architecture. Unfortunately the little lake was frozen so we did not get the infamous circle reflection that it is famous for. But a nice sight to see nonetheless.
Thank you for watching! I would really appreciate if you liked the video and subscribed to my channel.

Rakotzbrücke the Devil’s Bridge – Kromlauer, Germany
The Rakotzbrücke Bridge was specially built during the mid-19th century to create a circle when it is reflected in the waters beneath it is a popular photo opportunity. The #Rakotzsee is roughly built out of varied local stone. Like many similarly precarious spans across Europe, the #Rakotzbrücke is known as a “devil’s bridge,” due to the colloquialism that such bridges were so dangerous or miraculous that they must have been built by #Satan. While the bridge (as with all the others) was created by mortal hands, its builders did seem to hold the aesthetics of the bridge in higher regard than its utility.
Either end of the Rakotzbrücke is decorated with thin rock spires that look like they could be natural outcroppings were they not so angular. In addition, the parabola of the bridge is designed to be one half of a perfect circle, so that when the waters are still and the light is right, it creates the illusion of a complete stone circle.
One version of the tale presents the legend feature an old lady or a simple herder who makes a pact with the #Devil. In this version the devil agrees to build the bridge, and in return he will receive the first soul to cross it.
After building the bridge (often overnight) the devil is outwitted by his adversary, for example by throwing bread to lure a dog over the bridge first, and is last seen descending into the water, bringing peace to the community. There are so many Devil's Bridges in Germany including
#Teufelsbrück – Hamburg, Germany
#Steinerne Brücke – Regensburg, Germany
#Brickegickel (de) – Frankfurt, Germany (similar legend)
#Bridge near Bamberg Cathedral, Germany (similar legend)

Bastei Bridge Germany - A natural wonder
From Dresden Germany I took a 50 minute train trip, about $7 each way, to Bastei Bridge near the town of Rathen along the Elbe River. Bastei Bridge is a natural landmark with remarkable stone formations located in the hills. It has a number of small bridges that let you get some good views. There's a 2 euro cost for one section which is really worth it. The hike is uphill but but a kid can do it.
P.S. I visited this Bastei Bridge and Dresden for fun and to research my book, a biography titled, Ludwig Richter: The Story Artist. Ludwig Richter was a wonderful Dresden artist and illustrator from the 1800's. His life and work is fascinating, funny, and inspirational. He lived through a terrible Napoleonic war, saw battle, traveled mostly by foot to an artist community in Rome, climbed Mount Vesuvius, escaped bandits, fell in love, suffered tragic loss, but went on to become to become one of the most beloved illustrator of his time. His work would later influence a young Walt Disney. The biography is at Amazon and is free to read if you have kindle unlimited or a $3 for a download. You can read it with the kindle app. A paperback copy is also available. The book has over 150 images by Ludwig Richter as well as his artistic friends and colleagues. I hope you check it out! No time like the present! Thanks :-)
