After exploring Tuticorin, the Pearl City …..I head towards my next exploring destination Rameswaram & Dhanushkodi.
This is the famous pamban. I always wanted to see this bridge. It was India's first sea bridge and was the longest sea bridge in India until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010 And luckily I got the chance to witness the train crossing here.
Rameswaram is a town on Pamban Island, in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the holiest places in India and is located on a beautiful island. According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Lord Rama created a bridge across the sea to Sri Lanka.
It’s known for Ramanathaswamy Temple, 'Ramanathaswamy' literally means 'the Master of Rama' which refers to Lord Shiva, which the temple is all about. A Hindu pilgrimage site, One of the four pilgrimage places, Char Dham of India, with ornate corridors, huge sculpted pillars, and sacred water tanks.
The APJ Abdul Kalam memorial was inaugurated on 27th July 2017. Presenting The everlasting memory of India’s great leader, the people’s president of India, and a renowned scientist – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam, who always reflected the simplicity, depth, and calmness of Rameshwaram through his life, is remarkably showcased in his memorial.
House of kalam- Dr Kalam, had lived as a child Here, According to him End is not the end, in fact E.N.D. means Effort Never Dies. So keep putting your efforts towards your Goal.

History. The history of Rameswaram is centred around the island being a transit point to reach Sri Lanka (Ceylon historically) and the presence of Ramanathaswamy Temple. Tevaram, the 7th–8th century Tamil compositions on Shiva by the three prominent Nayanars (Saivites) namely Appar, Sundarar and Thirugnanasambandar.
