Egypt Tour Review With Ramasside Tours
How was your tour in Egypt?
We spent 3 days in Cairo with my husband at the beginning of April. Our experience was simply amazing, and I can say without any doubt that it wouldn't have been close to this nice if it wasn't for Ramasside Tours and namely Mina Wasfy who's been our private guide throughout the visit. Some key points:
Guide: Mina is an extremely knowledgeable guide, and a very positive person. Apart from telling you all the important basics you have to know he adds very interesting and special details that will keep you enthusiastic and keen to discover more and more. He also helped us with practical things including fetching delicious food from trusted places.
Program: The first day we went to the Egyptian Museum and Coptic Cairo. The second, we went to Giza, Saqqara, Memphis, visited a papyrus workshop and even did some camel and quad riding in the desert. The third day, we started at the Khan el-Khalili bazaars, traveled through the garbage city quarter to see the coptic cave churches on the Mokattam Mountain, went for a Felucca stroll on the Nile and saw the famous laser show at the Giza pyramids.
Transportation: Mind that in Cairo it's not easy to get from one place to another. The traffic is hectic and without a guide you could end up wasting most of your day trying to fetch a taxi or stuck in traffic. Mina and his driver colleague picked us up at the hotel every morning, and chose the most optimal route to make sure we get around easily and quickly.
Schedule: The opening times of sights and museums tend to vary and many places close by mid-afternoon. Mina planned our day wisely, so we were always in time and never had to rush from one place to another.
All in all, we can totally recommend and especially Mina who made our stay truly special.

Best Egypt Tour Company_Ramasside Tours
I cannot sing enough praise for the staff of Ramasside Tours. Their ratings are high for a reason, and I'm so happy I booked my 5-day Cairo tour with this company!
My travel buddy and I, two female backpackers, decided to play it safe on our first time to Egypt and join a tour. Throughout the entire booking process Ramasside kept us organized and informed. Our arrival feel like a breeze after a long flight as we were greeted warmly by Haitham Masoud and treated like royalty, bag service and all. Ayoub and our driver Omar transported us safely through the haphazard Cairo traffic, and we were thrilled by our accommodation, with an unexpected pyramid-view balcony. The first two hours sold the whole trip.
Each day tour was well organized, and staff were great on communication, especially if there were any changes in schedule. To our surprise, each tour was private, so our personal driver and guide made us feel well cared for (*spoiled*). All drivers were excellent on safety and efficiency and our guides were some of the most educated humans I've ever met, just absolute scholars.
Ahmed was courteous and knowledgeable, making our first day exploring Memphis, Saqqara, and The Great Pyramids of Giza extra fun. Ahmed was full of architectural facts, goofy photo ops, and cultural tips for us; we learned more than I could even retain!
Our second guide Mohammed was equally polite and intelligent, patiently answering our questions as we wandered through the Egyptian museum, The Alabaster Mosque, and Coptic Cairo. Mohammed not only taught us about the traditions of his ancestors, but also about the current cultural and religious climate, deepening our appreciation for this magnificent country.
Thank you again, Ramasside staff, each of you made this trip so incredible and your hospitality and humor will always be remembered. BOOK WITH THEM NOW!!!

Egypt 2000 Year Old Catacombs
The Kom al-Shoqafa catacombs, considered by archaeologists to be the largest Greco-Roman burial site in Egypt, has been threatened by water since its discovery in 1900.
The catacombs, which were in use from the first to the fourth century AD, are renowned for funerary architecture blending ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman art.

EGYPT 375 - KOM EL SHOQAFA CATACOMBS *ALEXANDRIA VI*(by Egyptahotep)
These Catacombs are in the district of Karmouz to the east of Alexandria. This area was named Kom El-Shoqafa
The cementery dates back to the 1st century A.D and was used until the 4th century A.D. It was discovered in 1900 when by pure chance, a donkey drawn cart fell into a pit, which led to the discovery.
The vestibule leads to a circular hall called rotunda. In the centre of this hall a shaft was cut leading to the 2nd storey of the tomb and surrounded by a small enclosure wall called the parapet, on top of which is a dome, supported by 6 pillars. Between the pillars there were some figures of human heads, some of which were discovered and transferred to the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria. To the left of the rotunda, is a vestibule, which leads to a chamber, which was also cut into the rock. Its ceiling is supported by 4 pillars, and it contains 3 benches, again cut in the rock, and takes a U shape. This chamber was called the Triclinium. Most probably, the room was dedicated for visitors, possibly where they would have dinner.
Before accessing the main chamber there are 2 corridors, one in the east and the other in the west, each one leading to a large number of Luculi. After you descend to the hall that passes the Rotunda there is a small hall in front. In this vestibule, we see to the east a statue of a man inside a niche; while to the west there is a statue of a woman inside a niche. Both statues were sculpted in the Egyptian way, with some features of Greek art. 2 composite columns, containing a mixture of Egyptian and Greco-Roman elements, support the façade of this hall. Among the Egyptian elements; is the winged sun disk, the Falcon God Horus and the Uraeaus or the cobra, while the Greco-Roman elements are represented in the pediment, at top of the chamber.Next to this bed, the God Anubis is holding in his left hand a jar; it is supposed to contain some liquids that were used during mummification, while his right hand is touching the mummy. God Anubis is wearing a Roman dress and on top of his head there is the sun disk with a cobra on each side.
Underneath the table there is a representation of the three canopic jars for the viscera; originally there were supposed to be four jars, which represented the 4 sons of Horus; Hapi, Imsety, Duamutef, and Qebesenuef. Most likely the artist did not find enough space to represent the 4th jar Duamutef, which take the shape of a jackal or Anubis,
