Ramayana Ballet, performed at Purawisata Yogyakarta, Indonesia is a magnificent performance to watch during your visit to Yogyakarta. Ramayana Ballet Purawisata has been regularly staged every night since 1976 (39 YEARS); and it received an award from Indonesian Record Museum (MURI), in 2001.
Before the ballet performance, guests will have dinner at Gazebo Garden Restaurant. It offers a visually pleasing dining experience. This is the only restaurant in town that puts an amazing Ramayana Ballet show included in their special dinner package. Ramayana ballet played in open-air theatre near Prambanan temple Compounds, Java, Indonesia. This video was recorded in June 24, 1996 with Super-VHS camcorder.
*Third Episode KUMBOKARNO LENO (THE DEATH OF KUMBOKARNO)
THE INVASION OF ALENGKA AND THE FALL OF A PATRIOTIC HERO
Rama, Leksmana, Sugrlwa and his army wait anxiously for the return of Hanuman from Alengka. Soon Hanuman comes, bringing happy news for everybody Hanurnan then delivers Shinta's hairpin to Rama. On seeing this Rama is drowned in misery but nevertheless he thanks Hanuan for the successfull task he'd done. Next. Rama sends Hanggada to Alengka to warn Rahwana to surrender meanwhile Rama shoots a magic arrow at the water separating the two countries causes it to dry out instantly. his whole activity is presented in a picturesque dance describing the panic stricken fishes and their cooperation in the end, so that Rama's troop may cross over.
In Alengka Rahwana is assembling his ministers and warriors to council about the coming war, when Hanggada arrives. Hanggada delivers Rama's message. It infuriates Rahwana to such extend that the orders Hanggada to be killed but Kumbakarna stops him. This inflames Rahwana's anger even more, yet Kumbakarna once more reminds him that Hanggada is only mere envoy. Rahwana cannot resist his passion and turns out Kumbakarna. Then he orders lndrajid, Prahasta, Sarpakenaka and all the giant army to go to battle and defeat Rama. The battle is cruel and terrible. Prahasta, the prime minister of Rahwana is killed by Hanila (there is an earlier episode concerning Sugriwa - Subali's mother being cursed into stone because oi her unfaithfulness) and in this scene. Hanila use this stone to smash dead Prahasta. He redeems the infedil women who turn back to her shape, the goddess Hendradi, lndrajid dies on Leksmana's arrow. Hanuman strikes dead Rahwana's sister Sarpakenaka. But above all these, the most tragic figure is the patriotic hero Kumbakarna who suffers pulled limbmangied and dishe-veled price.

Ramayana ballet played in open-air theatre near Prambanan temple Compounds, Java, Indonesia. This video was recorded in May 13, 1994 with Super-VHS camcorder.
*First Episode THE ABDUCTION OF SHINTA
Rama's experience in voluntary exile, wanders in the forest with his beautiful wife Shinta, escorted by his faithful brother Leksmana. While they_are comforting each other in their misery, a golden deer is intact a transfor- mation of Flahwana's envoy Marica, who has been or- dered to tempt Shinta.
Shinta is spellboud by this golden deer and begs Rama to catch it. Rama tells Leksmana to guard Shinta, not to leave her under any circumstances and goes to capture the golden deer. While waiting they hear a scream of Rama calling for help. But in fact is only Marica imitating Rama's voice in order to draw away Shinta's attention. Shinta whose apprehension grows into frenzy urges Leksmana to rescue his brother. When Leksmana re- fuses she accused him of having mischievous intention. Unwillingy Leskarnana leaves Shinta as soon as he leaves Rahwana shows up and persuades Shinta to become his wife. Failing in his loathful intention Rahwana carries her away by force. On the way the helplers Shinta drops her omaments, one by one hoping they might give her clue to Rama to trace out.
The giant eagle Jatayu, a loyal friend of Rama's father soaring throught the air sees what happens to Shinta and hurries to rescue her. In their bloody fight, Jatayu is seriously wonded and drops to earth. He was found dying by Rama and Leksmana and yet still can give information before rassing out. With this new hope they hurry on and meet and army of apes led by Sugriwa, the ape prince. There were also the white ape warrior Hanuman, the blue ape Hanila and the venerale ape Jembawan. Sugriwa tels Rama about his bothers Subali who had wronged him and entreats Rama to help him, in retum of which Sugriwa is ready to help Flama in his quest for his Shinta. While Sugriwa and Subali are fight- ing, Rama shoots his fatal arrow at Subali who does not survive it.
