Bading på en av Norges fineste strender
THE HYPE IS REAL: Lofoten Islands, Norway
Lofoten Islands, Norway - The Lofoten islands off the northern coast of Norway, are home to some of the most beautiful and rugged stretches of landscape I’ve ever seen.
Our journey to Lofoten actually started in the city of Bodø, where we spent the day exploring the city and the saltstraumen maelstrom before catching the ferry from Bodo to Lofoten (Moskenes).
-
The saltstraumen is one of the best things to do in Bodo, as it is a small strait that connects the sea and a fjord with one of the strongest tidal currents in the world.
This wild whirlpool of boils and vortex’s happens when tides change and water funnels through the strait.
-
From our basecamp in Sorvagen, we have two days to explore the best things to do in Lofoten, on the southern islands, before needing to report to the capital city of Svolvaer for a dream event.
Our first stop is on the southern end of Moskenes Island at little fishing village called Å - Once a town that specialized in stockfish, it’s main income now is tourism, although, there isn’t many people around this time of year - which is actually one of the big reasons why we came in March.
-
Next up, its the oldest and perhaps most picturesque fishing village in the Lofoten Archipelago - Hamnøy
-
And just a few minutes back down the E10, is Reine. The 69-acre village is the administrative center of Moskenes Municipality, has a population of 314 people, and it’s major lifeline is very easy to see - and smell.
Cod or Skrei, is known as the Norwegian Miracle.
Skrei comes from one of the world’s largest and most sustainably managed cod stocks.
Although it doesn’t seem like it here, only 10% of over 400 million migrating cod are caught and branded skrei.
All over the Lufoten islands between February and May, you’ll see an endless supply of drying cod on these giant wooden racks.
They’re left out here for about three months, before being brought inside to mature for up to another 12 months.
Stockfish is the countries longest sustained export commodity, going all the way back to the viking days.
-
We also stopped at Anita's for her classic fish burger and finished the day at Ramberg beach (Rambergstranda).

After enjoying a picturesque sunset over the fjords of Bergen it was time to head up further north for part 3 of this series where we wanted to show you the best places to visit in the Lofoten and the city of Bodø. The Lofoten Islands are characterised by their mountains and peaks, sheltered inlets, stretches of seashore and large virgin areas which made up for an incredible road trip.
Before heading over to the Lofoten we landed in Bodø where we met up with Ellen from the Northern Norway Tourism Board who showed us around her city with all the sights it has to offer ranging from streetart to the tidal pools at Saltstraumen. Then it was time to take the ferry to the Lofoten. Besides all the Instagram Hotspots on the Lofoten we checked out the various beaches, explored the surfing culture and took part in the World Championship of Cod fishing.

LOFOTEN 2017 Bodø, Saltstraumen, Kvalvika Beach, Ramberg, Moskenes 4K Drone footage w DJI MAVIC PRO
A short drone movie from our road trip to Lofoten. We started in Luleå, drove to Bodö and then 4 days of travel around Lofoten. We drove to Leknes where we stayed 2 nights and we took a day trip to Svolvær and Kabelvåg. We also stayed at Moskenes. We managed to hike to Kvalvika beach. Both Kvalvika beach and Ramberg stranda were beautiful! Saltströmmen (salt stream) were amazing! One of the strongest tidal currents in the world. Located in Nordland, Norway. The narrow channel connects the outer Saltfjorden to the large Skjerstad Fjord.
Norway is truly beautiful!
This is filmed from a drone, DJI Mavic Pro in 4K, a really nice drone. Edited in Final Cut Pro.

Lofotens incredible diverse landscape || Landscape Photography
When I talk about pattern beach, I accidentally call it Skagsanden. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. This is RAMBERGSTRANDA. My memory was a bit faulty!
Maybe my most ambitious video to date. 27 photographs from all over Lofoten, tying up the loose ends from my two previous videos from the amazing Lofoten islands. This time I'm running a small workshop and together we photograph: Utakleiv, Kvalvika, Hamnøy, Sakrisøy and Rambergstranda among other places. We even got to experience one last powerful session with the northern lights, leaving a huge impact on me. What an incredible diverse landscape. What an incredible place.

Guide to Lofoten, the world’s most beautiful archipelago
A guide to the best experiences, northern lights, hiking, fishing, safaris, surfing and accommodation.
We can heartily recommend Lofoten after a trip we took last summer.
What spectacular, wild nature.
Here you can really get away from it all, and Lofoten has numerous sights and tourist attractions. We went deep-sea fishing, wish was definitely worth the trip.
My travel tips.
Visit the Lofotr Viking Museum in Borg and learn how people live hundreds of years ago. Rent a car (like we did), so you can travel around and see as much nature, sights and attractions as possible. There are also plenty of trails available for those interested in hiking and walking.
