Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Pouring rain prevented our visit to Sigiriya, but we made the most of it with a day at the Dambulla Cave Temple (aka. Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya, Dambulla Rock Temple). The caves were warm, dry, quiet, and well maintained. The murals are lovely and the view is stunning. There are plenty of monkeys disinterested by humans. With an entrance fee half the price of most historical sites, it's a no brainer.
