Ranipur and Jharial Temple Complex, Dist - Balangir, Odisha, India
Ranipur - Jharial is a 9th century CE archaeological site situated around 17 Kms from Titlagarh Jn in Balangir district of Odisha. It is the confluence place of Tantra worshipping (Shakti upasana), Shaivaism, Vaishnavaism. There is a hypaethral (roofless) temple dedicated to 64 Yoginis, one among four such temples in India. The tallest brick temple from ancient India, Indralatha temple is located here. You will get 1100 years old inscriptions on the wall of Someshvara Shiva temple. There are numerous temples erected at this location. Some ancient Vyuha like Chakra Vyuha, and Shankha Vyuha are of interest too. This place is famous as Soma-kshtra in puranic texts..

It is a combination of religious faiths of Saivism, Budhism, Vaisnavism and Tantrism. Sixtyfour Yoginis are worshiped on a close circular openvault. The major attaraction of the place is one of the four such shrines in India. The temple dedicated to Lord Someswar Siva is the noted one among a plethora of about 50 temples here.
Indralath, the majestic brick temple is said to be the highest brick temple of Odisha. Mundpadar at a distance of 4kms is the nearest bus stop to reach Ranipur Jharial.

Ranipur Jharial is an obscure village of Bolangir district. However this village has unique 64 Jogini mandirand Someswar mandir. Besides there is Indralath mandir made by Bricks only.This was seat of ancient tantra learning.Both Shiva and Shakta follower worshiped/ here.In this open air pandal many idols have been taken away thanks to the rumour/and greed that there was gold inside the statue of goddess.As many as seven idols were missing from their place(the number could be more ).Thereis a puzzle circle .once you enter it would be difficult to come out of it.Moreover according to locals there is a lucky stones in village Ranipur .It was already 1 pm when I reached there.Due to the Sunraysover the head ,the photographs quality is not high were not good.Most of-the photographs were taken from my Mobile .
Ranipur-Jharial houses one among the five existing rare monuments of Hypaethral temples (temples without roofs) dedicated to 64 yoginis in India. The other three are at Hirapur near Bhubaneswar, Khajurao & Bheraghat near Jabalpur, and Dudhai near Lalitpur. The images at Ranipur-Jharial are made of sandstone. The temple of 64 yoginis of Ranipur-Jharial is famous not only for its beautiful architecture but also for its religious significance. Three-faced Natraj Shiva idol stands at the centre of the temple encircled by 64 sculptures of the Yogini goddesses in various positions. Ranipur-Jharial is famous for temples without roofs called hypaethral temples and houses one such temple consigned to 64 yoginis. Another major attraction of this place is the Someswar Siva Temple built by Mattamayura Shaivacharya Gagana Siva. The place also houses the Indralath Temple which is the tallest brick temple in Odisha.
Situated in the green environs of the Titilagarh sub-division in Balangir district, the twin villages of Ranipur- Jharial bear strong traces of their very old heritage. This is mainly evident in the frequent ancient temples showing by visiting pilgrims to 'Somatirtha', as they called this region.
Saivism, Vaisnavism, Buddhism and Tantrism clearly enjoyed a immense deal of influence in the region. Situated on the rocky outcrops of this region are a number of temples that are of great interest to tourists.
Situated here is the Hypaethral temple of the 64 'yoginis'. It is one of the four famous Yogini temples in India. The other three are located at Hirapur near Bhubaneswar , Khajuraho and Bheraghat near Jabalpur.
The premium specimen of a brick temple is the 20m high Indralatha temple. It is one of the tallest brick temples of ancient India.
