Ranthambore National Park is located in the Rajasthan, India. It is home to more than 40 species of mammals, 320 species of birds, 300 species of plants and 40 species of reptiles. This park has a large tiger population with an approximate figure of 45. It is a dry-deciduous forest with little undergrowth. It has three very well defined seasons: – summer, winter and monsoon. This park is situates at the junction of Aravalli and Vindhya hill range. The entire park covers an area of about 400 square kilometres. It is one of the finest places to view animals in their natural habitat. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1957 and a national park in 1981.

From November to March is the best time to explore Ranthambore.
The park is named after a huge fort that towers over the park atop a hill.
This park has Banas River to its North and Chambal River to its South.

This park also has the second largest banyan tree of the country.
The common frog is the only amphibian species that can be found in the Ranthambore National Park.
The park is closed from July to September due to the monsoon season and it is also the mating season for tigers.
This park gained the protection of “Project Tiger’ in 1974.
This are receives an average annual rain fall of around 800 mm.
Ranthambore National park is the best place to spot Bengal Tigers during daytime.
There are over 540 flowering plant species.
Many reptiles can be found here like: – monitor lizards, marsh crocodiles, vipers, tortoises, Indian chameleon, cobras etc.

The hotel booked our safari and charged us 1500 each. It is better to book safari online in Advance and book Jeep if you get option. We were in Zone 10 and din't see tiger. Google suggest that the chances are very high in Zone 1 to Zone 6.

Tigers can be easily spotted even in the daytime. The best times for tiger sightings at Ranthambhore National Park are in November and May. Other fauna include the Indian leopard, nilgai, wild boar, sambar, striped hyena, sloth bear, southern plains gray langur, rhesus macaque, mugger crocodile[1][2] and chital. The sanctuary is home to a wide variety of trees, plants, birds and reptiles, as well as one of the largest banyan trees in India.
It is situated in the Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan, about 110 km northeast of Kota and 140 km southeast of Jaipur, which is also the nearest airport. The nearest town and railway station is at Sawai Madhopur, about 11 km away. The park is also close to the Kota railway station. RIDCOR operates a mega-highway between Kota and Ranthambhore. Ranthambhore National Park lies at the edge of a plateau and is bounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. It is named after the historic Ranthambhore fortress, which lies within the park.
