The water is amazingly blue and calm, perfect for swimming with there kids. Surrounded by valleys and cliffs that drop into the ocean, this place is a must see when your travelling OZ!!

* large grassed field, with no designated sites. You cannot camp on the beach.
* All sites are unpowered, and shade is around the perimeter only – and sparse - so in warm weather, bring some sort of shelter.
* Upon arrival, choose a site, the campsite manager will come and collect the small fee per night to stay there. $9 per adult.
* Toilets are available but and there is outside cold fresh water showers to rinse off salt water
* Bins are available
* Water is available
* There is no booking system, you just turn up.
* This is a very pretty spot to stay in and very popular with caravans, backpackers and day visitors.
* As shade is limited, its a bit like being on a big oval as you don't have trees or scrub to divide your campsite from others.
* Dogs are allowed, just follow the signed restrictions on beach and jetty.
* this place gets super busy so be prepared for no privacy and close neighbors!

100. Rapid Bay Campground, South Australia
Rapid Bay Campground is another of these fabulous locations not to be missed. This is at least Top 3 campground in Australia for us.
Located an hour and a half south of Adelaide it sits between 2 mountains and has a beautiful beach, big Jetty and is a well known very popular dive site.
The Campground provides toilets, BBQ's and drinking water. The water for the toilets and taps arrives by truck from Adeliade and is transferred into tanks.
The sunsets at night can be spectacular.
The Campground is Pet Friendly. I had good Telstra coverage but no Vodafone.
The cost to stay is $7 per person.
Our stay was 28-29th March, 11-18th April 2017 and 29-30th April 2017.

Rapid Bay Jetty is considered to be one of the best dive sites with a shore entry in Australia showcasing the beautiful Leafy Sea Dragon and an array of fish species in the 'aquarium'.

A weekend away at the Rapid Bay camp ground.
Only a short 2 hour drive from Adelaide, on the way to Cape Jervis Rapid Bay is a glorious gem of a beach perfect for a weekend away.
Crystal clear waters, glorious sunset, a jetty for fishing. What more could you want!

From Rapid bay beach..paddled toward Rapid Head, then back tracked toward second valley. Gorgeous beaches dotted along the way. Crystal water.
Rapid Bay Camping Trip - NYE 2018
Something different for a change. A road trip by car, well....a camper van actually......well actually, not a decked out camper van like you see with a kitchen sink and all of that jazz.....just a van with a bed and some storage which the wife has decoratively bohoified as much as possible.
So off we went on the morning before new years eve to Rapid Bay, down the south coast from Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
We had all fingers and paws crossed that we were going to get a good spot on the beach.......
...And that we did! We managed to find a krakin spot right on the beach just where we like it.....away from all the riff raff teen parties up on the grassy knoll....with the 50 different campsite DJ's pumping their own genre of party music.
We had pretty chilled day with the neighbours all parted out by sundown...so we just had some chilled out vibes on the speaker in our own little world while we washed down a bunch of treats with drinks until the fireworks.
Unfortunately we couldn't get any video or pics of the fire works because our furkids were freaking out and we had to keep them safe and secure otherwise they would have bolted! :(
It was a well behaved affair actually, no drunken fights or arguments that we could hear and I reckon everyone was asleep by 2am.
So.......where to next time??
Probably the same spot.

We camped at Rapid bay, explored the whole of Rapid Bay and Second Valley as well as visiting Ingalalla Falls just outside Normanville. The video is extremely fun and peaceful, if it doesn't give you a good feeling, I don't know what will. :)

The Fleurieu Peninsula is a stunning spot along South Australia's coastline, home to great SA beaches, fishing and water activities. It's also the gateway to Kangaroo Island and as we found out home to a lot of Southern Calamari and many friendly locals!
