Bottle Feeding BABY MONKEYS **cute overload** in Volcan, Panama
Just a few months old, these baby monkeys were still in diapers! Watch 'til end for ultimate baby monkey sleeping cuteness.
Where else in the world can you do BABY MONKEY BOTTLE FEEDING at your Airbnb?? Home to many different animals (some cuddly, some dangerous, ALL CUTE)... this spot in Volcan, Panama goes down as the BEST AIRBNB in Panama.
Welcome to Raquel's Ark!
An animal sanctuary in Volcan, Raquel works with the Panama Government to rehabilitate and rescue animals of all kinds. She also rents out a very clean and comfortable room in her house for a reasonable rate, making it one of the coolest Airbnbs ever. We stayed with her 2 nights and it was the best stay EVER!
When we visited, Raquel had Coatimundi, a raccoon, a weasel, sloths, many chickens and cats and an incredible jaguar.
Most special of all? Raquel also had 3 baby Howler Monkeys (these baby monkeys are not pets, they are monkey rescues). So young these baby monkeys are in still in diapers :-)
Raquel showed us how she feeds them and let us help with the monkey bottle feeding, too. The cutest little monkeys with the sweetest little fingers, hands, faces and tails, they are so curious and gentle… favorite memories? One of the baby monkeys petting the cat with me and ultimately falling asleep on my shoulder!
CUTE OVERLOAD!
Raquel’s passion for what she does and her love for the animals really shines through. A terrific woman with a wonderful spot. If you love baby monkeys and animals in general, check out Raquel’s Ark AKA the BEST Airbnb in Panama:

Raquel's Ark
This is a tour of Raquel's Ark in Volcan, Chiriqui, Republic of Panama
Spending time at the Raquel's Ark animal refuge... I got to hold a sloth!!!
We went to Raquel's Ark in Volcan, Panama. It's an animal refuge with some interesting animals. I got to hold and play with a sloth, a coatimundi, and a monkey. I didn't hold the jaguar... can you blame me?!
SLOTH Sleepover = BEST Sleepover
LIKE if you LIKE sloth yawns, hugs, cuddles & sleepovers!
Raquel’s Ark in Panama’s Volcan has become famous for its sloth experience. An animal sanctuary and Airbnb, it’s one of the only places we’ve come across where you can experience a sloth hug, sloth yawn, sloth eating and even a sloth sleepover and a little sloth dance.
This video covers the end of Day 1 & beginning of Day 2 on our stay at Raquel’s Ark - an Airbnb & Animal Sactuary in Panama’s town of Volcan.
After helping Raquel with the baby monkeys earlier that day…
It was sloth sleepover time! Raquel let us help while the sloths were eating food (grapes). Amazing creatures, they have the cutest ears, noses and their yawns… those are something else. We spent so much time with the sloths, the cat even got jealous of the sloths' cuteness.
These smiling sloths are 2 toed sloths that are 8 years old. (**They are not pets, they are rescues**)
If you ever in the Volcan area in Panama, be sure to drop into Raquel’s Ark. It is a licensed sanctuary in Panama and free to enter to see the sloths and other animals. Highly recommended to leave a donation to help Raquel rescue and rehabilitate more cute sloths and Panama animals:

Raquel's Ark: Animal Rescue Shelter
raquelsark.com I was invited to come check out Raquels Ark because people have started to notice some of my tourism related videos, so I went to check it out. The most amazing thing I saw there was a 3 toed sloth who had the exact same hair cut as me. If the sloth was rocking a pony tail people would have mistaken us for twins. I don't know the names of most of the animals I hung out with, but touched and held some creatures I never knew existed before yesterday.
Nearly everything I held seemed to have the capability to rip my face off. Sloths have some pretty mean looking claws, the toucan has that monster beak and sounds like a velociraptor, and the baby owl had razor sharp claws. But I couldn't get over the eyes on the owl, they were just amazing.
Raquel's Ark is free to visit but it would be pretty lame to go there and not leave a donation. Your donation to places like this really help out the animals. Hopefully I can return someday and speak with the owner, she was out of the country when I went to visit. I would like to interview her on camera, so she can explain more about the animals and what they do there.

Blue hearts in the road
In Panama when someone is killed in an accident or a pedestrian is killed while crossing the road they paint a blue heart marking the place where it happened. They are there to remind other people how fragile life is, and to slow down when driving.
There is one spot in the road in Panama City with 18 blue hearts painted in the road. A bus (Diablo Rojo) caught fire and the emergency exit on the back was chained shut so people couldn't jump on and off with out paying. I've heard that mothers had to throw their babies out the window to people trying to help outside. They were trapped inside and it was the only way to save their child.
So the hearts are there to serve as a sober reminder of how important it is to drive safe. Slow down a little and make it home in one piece.
The Ride to Cerro Banco
After crossing the river and making it up the muddy hill with the help of a front end loader I began my ride to the waterfall. Right at the beginning of the ride I crash against the side of the road trapping my right foot under the pannier. You can hear me let out a sort of shocked gasp when it happens. I couldn't believe how bad it hurt, and really thought it might be broken. Because it was trapped under the pannier I had a difficult time getting my leg free. Can't wait to read all the comments about how I should be wearing MX boots.
Not only would a smart person have been wearing boots, he also would have turned around when he got injured. But I set out that morning to make it to a waterfall, one that I had already defeated me in the past and I wasn't about to give up so early in the day.
I soon found out that road became more and more difficult, and would eventually become impassable. Maintaining these dirt roads in the rainy season is an impossible task. Any work crews do to improve them will be washed away that afternoon when the rain comes.
This is part 2 of my second attempt to reach Cerro Banco waterfall. All the videos I post about this waterfall can be found in this play list:

Cerro Banco Waterfall
I finally made it to the waterfall, but was to worn out to really enjoy it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was even carrying a swimsuit and towel, and while hiking was dreaming of diving in the water to cool off. Not exactly the best swimming hole and hiking down to the falls we walked on a very steep slippery trail. No one had paid a visit to the falls for quite a while, because the guy who showed me where they were had to hack our way down the trail with a machete.
My ankle was dong okay on the flat road, but the little trail was killing it. I never would have found the falls on my own. I just kept asking people where they were and finally one man waved me onto his property, so I opened the fence and went in. Together we walked to his back yard and straight into the jungle. There was no sign telling me which way to go, or how to get there.
Once we got to a spot where I could film I set up the camera took some still images and recorded some video. I was planning to record a little more video but the skies opened up and we were caught in a massive rain storm. The steep trail became very muddy and slippery and I pretty much crawled out of there on my hands and knees.
Back at the mans house he asked me to pay him $5 for showing me the way. I looked in my wallet and saw a 20, 10, and 3 ones. So I tried to haggle him down to $3 but he wouldn't go for it. So I asked if he could break a $10, but he didn't have change. He told me I could walk back down the hill and find a store that could break the bill, but that was the opposite way I need to go. So I told him it was $3 or nothing and started walking away. He took the $3 and said he would wait for me to pay the other $2 on another day, the next time I come back. I was honest and told him I was never coming back to this place. He left me alone.
This is part 4 of my second attempt to reach Cerro Banco waterfall. All the videos from this adventure can be seen in this playlist:
