West Rattlesnake trail
The Rattlesnakes are two small rocky mountains on the NW side of Squam Lake which provide excellent views of the Lakes Region. (There are also about 8 Rattlesnake Hills and 5 Rattlesnake Mountains in New Hampshire, the most notable of which is in Rumney. Few if any of them house actual rattlesnakes.)
There are many old bridle paths in New Hampshire from the pre-automobile days of genteel summer vacations with travel by train from major cities. While the most famous Old Bridle Path ascends Mount Lafayette, this one is the easiest trail up West Rattlesnake, and receives heavy use from summer camps and other visitors. The trail has been heavily rebuilt with gravel and rock and log steps, and there is a donation box at the trailhead for those who wish to contribute

I managed to squeeze in one last hike for 2014 after work. Did a three-mile loop hike over the Rattlesnakes near Squam Lake. The view from both peaks was very nice, although better from the west peak. Descended the Col Trail, which wasn't very pleasant to walk on. Finished it off with a road walk on NH 113.

Mountain Biking the Belknap Range Trails | Lakes Region, New Hampshire
The Belknap Mountain Range is one of the most demanding and rewarding rides that I have been on to date. We covered around 13 miles and 3,000' of elevation while conquering steep climps, hike-a-bike trials, amazing views and epic DH trails along the way. This is a full day affair if you are willing to make the trek, but it is well worth it. I recommend having a guide or digging for a good trail map. Getting lost out here will certainly put you through an extra workout! Enjoy the ride!
Hiking Stinson Mountain
NH Fire Tower List map…
Our quest to stand at every site where a fire tower stands, once stood or was proposed, brought us to Stinson Mountain, #43 for us on the NH Fire Tower List. It is also on 52 with a View. It's not a long hike unless you have to break trail and after the second snowmobile trail crossing that is what we had to do.
This video was filmed using the Sony Handycam HDR-CX430V and edited using Adobe CS6.

Mountain Bike Follies on the Dump Run!
First time ever hitting the hyped up Dump Run off of Rattlesnake Mountain in Plymouth NH. Know for the famous climbing area Rumney Cliffs, this is a pure Enduro Ride, with steep route up and a fun, and blazingly fast ride back down.
I highly recommend this place. It's rad. Tons of flow and some great jumps.
Unfortunately the Follies portion of this video includes my troubles with an undersized SD card, which means the best parts of the down are not included. But, that just gives me an excuse to go back up when my new card arrives and record it again!

Enjoy!
Note: We did have a member of our party not wear a helmet (he forgot it). My take on this is that we are all adults and while I do not condone riding without a helmet, we are all adults and if that is your choice, so be it. I make sure to always have mine and to make sure my children always wear theirs.

Hedgehog Mountain
Today’s adventure brought us to Hedgehog Mountain in Albany, NH. It is on the 52 WAV hiking list. There are three view points on the 4.8 mile loop. There are the East Ledges, the summit itself and Allen‘s Ledge. We found Allen’s Ledge to have the best views over all. We used the UNH Trail to do the loop
