Raymondskill Falls Milford, PA Drone Footage
Last weekend a close friend and myself visited Raymondskill Falls in Milford, PA. After walking down the neatly cut, fenced path onto the newly erected lumber overlook, we ventured off the path through the natural, uncut lumber. At the bottom we looked onto this scene but we weren’t alone. Beating us to the spot was a Polish-born man and his young son. If I hadn’t asked I could have sworn they were born right where we found them, next to the waterfall with fishing poles in hand. They fit the scene, their scene. They loved the clean air, the chilled water, the prospect of a catch, well worth their early morning drive from New Jersey. After an hour and a half of taking in the air and enjoying the eel and trout they were pulling out of the water with them, we shook their hands leaving them to their day. If they had it their way without responsibility pulling them by their roots out of the woods, they would still be there, simply breathing and fishing. Who knows, maybe they are.
Raymondskills Falls PA Visit
Enjoying nature in Pennsylvania before going back home.
Raymondskill Falls (July 2009)
The last stop on this trip was to Raymondskill Falls, just south of Milford, PA. There are 3 sections to this waterfall and it's huge; the tallest in the state! How tall? 180 feet!
HOW DO YOU GET HERE?
There is a parking lot next to some restrooms, which you can be directed to, by clicking here:
If you want to see the base of the lower section, DO NOT take the switchback trail that goes past two little waterfalls down to the creek. You will not enjoy the steep hike back up and you won't find the base of the falls there. There is no longer an official trail down the to third section, so you'll have to go off the main path to see it. Watch out though, it's slippery!

You can check out their official site here:

Dingmans Falls at Delaware Water Gap NRA
While the summer months bring many to Delaware Water Gap NRA to cool off in sections of the Delaware River that flows 40 miles through the NRA, great hiking can be found here. Indeed, the Appalachian National Scenic Trail runs along good portion of the southern half of the NRA. With more than 100 miles of hiking trails, which direction should you head? If you don't have a lot of time, have young ones just getting their hiking stride under them, and are looking for a reprieve from the hot summer sun, consider the short walk along the Dingmans Falls Trail.

raymondskill falls, delaware water gap national recreation area, pike county, pennsylvania
Located within the Delaware water gap national recreation area which straddles both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Raymondskill is most probably the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. The total height is disputed but World Waterfall Database quotes 37 m although some sources say it's 46 m tall. While 3 tiers of the waterfall are clearly visible, there is a 4th drop as well. It's located on the Raymondskill Creek which empties into the Delaware river. The waterfall is accessible though a short hike from the first parking lot on the Raymondskill Road - an offshoot from US 209.
