Artist Interview: Sarah Brown and her first solo show in Singapore
REMOTE is a collection of 45 works on canvas and gesso boards, a stunning body of work inspired by the magnificent Western Desert Landscapes and Sarah Brown’s life-changing contributions in Indigenous communities, which captures the audience with its honesty and profound connection to country.
Not only is she an extremely talented and inspirational artist, based in Alice Springs, but also a nurse, health care worker and she was instrumental in setting up the Purple House, the headquarters for the Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku (WDNWPT), a health organisation for Indigenous communities which translates as ‘keeping all our families well’.
Whilst Sarah is the CEO of WDNWPT, and her every working hour is spent supporting the Indigenous communities, she finds painting is a release. A nocturnal activity that allows her to reflect, consider and attempt to order the no doubt chaotic professional path she has chosen to pursue. Her work is in exceptionally high demand as collectors are captivated by her ability to render the imagery of the Western Desert that she has been servicing as a nurse for almost 24 years.

Ocean Life 1
It all comes back to the sea. We are all connected by the world's oceans.
Erub Artists from Darnley Island share their connection with the sea and why it is so important to them to protect their 'sea country'. Creating artworks using ghost nets is not only a means to reuse and recycle these materials, but also a channel for these artists to reflect their history and heritage.
The video also features the Erub Artists' first ever showcase in ReDot Fine Art Gallery, Singapore in 2015, titled Our Island, Our Sea – an ocean away.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Ministry for the Arts' Catalyst (Australian Arts and Culture Fund).

Installation of Walkatjunanyi Inmaku (Painting Songs)
Title of Show: Walkatjunanyi Inmaku (Painting Songs)
Dates of Show: 5 April - 27 May 2017
The exhibition consists of eight astonishing large-scale paintings, executed by the senior artists of Tjungu Palya Arts. An exhibition of this magnitude has never been seen before from Tjungu Palya Arts, with each painting being 200 x 300 cm in size. This larger format allows abundant space for sprawling and epic narratives, which depict large tracks of country and demonstrate fundamental cultural thinking. This scale also allows the artists the freedom to weave a spectacular amount of painterly detail into their work. The nuanced mark-making of each individual artist sets a unique and sophisticated tone within each artwork, and represents a strong spiritual connection, to both the act of painting and the process of narrating ones’ mythological beliefs.

Greg Johns on Extended Showcase and Current Projects
Greg Johns shares more about his jarrah hardwood sculptures, similar to the ones being displayed here at ReDot Fine Art Gallery, and also a sneak peak into his current projects for next year.
'Two Stories' is a major exhibition by renowned Australian artist, Greg Johns, the first ever solo exhibition in Singapore.
Ever since he started making sculptures in 1976 Greg says he has ‘felt largely alienated from the art world’. Despite being viewed as an outsider, a slightly eccentric maverick of his chosen profession, this has not stopped him becoming one of the most celebrated and collectable sculptural artists Australia has ever produced. With outstanding achievements, his astonishing work has not gone unnoticed even in the Lion city, with significant works in the Wing Tai Collection, Singapore and a major sculpture commission for REDAS, Singapore between 1993–95.
Artist Mia Liu talks about her work Guggen' Dizzy / Art Stage Singapore 2014
Liang Gallery from Taipei, Taiwan, presents a large scale work by the artist Mia Liu (劉文瑄). Titled Guggen' Dizzy, the work presents itself as three large slowly rotating disks with colorful drawings. The piece is made of museum tickets from the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and masking tape, plywood and electric motors. In this video, Mia Liu talks about the inspiration for this piece, and her work in general.
Mia Liu (劉文瑄) was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1980. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007, and in the same year, she enrolled in CUNY Hunter College's Graduate School of Art. She likes to draw freely, and is particularly mesmerized by the unique textures created by drawing on different papers; therefore, she loves to discover different papers from her everyday life to use as her creative medium, and the medium itself also leads to the inspiration for her installation works. The process also goes on to form the clear emergence of her creative theme. By contemplating on a break-through way of working with flat and 3-dimensional structures, Mia Liu has produced a series of drawings that have superseded 2-dimension, and she calls them installation drawings. The artist lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan. Major exhibitions include CODA Paper Art, CODA Museum, Holland (2013); A Contemporary Art Exhibition Across the Strait, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts / National Art Museum of China, Taichung / Beijing (2013); Taiwan Calling: Phantom of Liberty / No Man's Land, MűcsarnokK / Ludwig Museum, Budapest, Hungary (2010).
