Putnam Cemetery Danvers
The Putnam Cemetery located in Danvers, MA. In this cemetery is the unmarked graves of Ann Putnam Jr, Ann Carr-Putnam and Thomas Putnam.
Beneath the earthen mound, located to the left just inside the entrance to the cemetery, are the unmarked graves of Thomas Putnam, his wife, Ann Putnam, Sr., and their daughter Ann. In 1692, the Putnams were one of the most powerful families in Salem Village. They played a major role in the witch hunt. Both twelve year-old Ann and her mother belonged to the accusing circle. Ann, Sr. and Thomas died within two weeks of one another in 1699; young Ann died seventeen years later. In 1706, she publicly asked forgiveness from those she had accused for the calamity she had brought upon them through her accusations in 1692.

Salem, MA Where is Gallows Hill? Finding the Hanging tree
After reading about this in the book Weird Massachusetts I realized both possible locations of Gallows Hill were very close to my house. I just always assumed that Gallows Hill Park was host to the actual site of the hangings. However, the facts will bring you to a hill behind a Walgreens parking lot. I've been to that Walgreens dozens of times and never made the connection until I read Weird Massachusetts. The purpose of the video is to recreate the route and area of the executions by showing you it through modern day images. I think its fascinating that such a historical place is tucked behind a parking lot long forgotten. Hopefully you will too.

Sergeant Major Disciplines the Sentries
Sometimes even the ever zealous and courageous men of HM 54th Regiment of Foot can be a little dingy on parade. But no matter how minor the infraction, the keen eye of our peerless Lieutenant-Colonel will always pick it up. And when he does, he makes his opinions known to the Regimental Sergeant Major. And when the Regimental Sergeant Major is shamed before his men...there is always Hell to pay...
This was a bit of a sillier video that we all recorded after an reenactment event at the Rebecca Nurse Homestead in Danvers, Massachusetts. All men shown are of the recreated 54th Regiment of Foot, a reenactment society based out of Connecticut. If you're interested in learning more about the 54th, click here!

... '''BURN HER!'', they cried!...''BURN HER!
BURN HER! THEY CRIED! BURN HER!!!!!!
( THE SALEM WYCH TRIALS)
Rebecca Towne Nurse was a 71 year old lady ,
who had never done any one a bad turn , in her life!
But that didn't stop the people of Salem village ,
from trying her as a witch. So the judge who got the case,
he knew that Rebecca Towne Nurse owned a farm
that today is called, 'the city of Danvers'. today
88% of the city of danvers, lines up perfectly with her old farm.
Can you imagine owning a farm that is as big as a city?
And the judge just thought about that farm
and thought about that farm. And the judge had this beautiful daughter,
who was about to marry this timothy guy.
So naturally the judge, thought that this farm was a gift from god,
to his daughter. In fact, he was certain of it.
And he knew that he was in the perfect position to scoop that farm up,
lock stock and barrel, and give it to his little girl, as a wedding present from God.
So the trial began,
And everything was working out beautifully.
And then they acquitted her.
And the judge , just snapped. He knew , he knew god's intentions .
god intended for that farm to go to his daughter. And no power on earth
was going to stop that from happening.
So the judge forced thru , a second trial.
And in the second trial, she was found guilty, so he calmed down.
He became rational, started thinking.
And he realized that if the farm was tainted by witch craft,
it would be worthless to his daughter. So he went to Rebecca nurse
and said So he went to Rebecca nurse and he said ,''Rebecca, Rebecca nurse.
Out of the goodness of our Christian hearts, we are going to give you
one last chance to redeem your immortal soul...., if not , your life.
We are going to tie you to this board ,, And then sink you to the bottom of the lake,
for thirty minutes. .. and when you come up , if you're still alive , we will burn you ,
over there ,at the stake , a witch condemned for all eternity. But if ,
when you come up , you are no longer among the living,
we will give you a full Christian burial,
with all the works. And your path into heaven will be assured!
So they tied her to the board and the judge and his assistant
slowly lowered her to the bottom of the lake.
and when they brought her back up, after a good long time,
she was still alive! And she screamed out some type of a curse
in some strange language, and the judge and his assistant ,
burst into flames, and they let go of the board , so Rebecca ,
came crashing back down. And when the board, touched the water,
the lake turned into this caldron of fire.
Everybody started screaming and running around. And a few people said , that
they saw the judges beautiful daughter, in a state of undress, walk out of the lake.
And many believe that that was really Rebecca nurse
and that she returned to the judges home and replaced the judges daughter,
permanently! And then, who moves into Rebecca's old farm,
but the judges beautiful daughter, and her new husband.
George Jacobs House: Pictures & Images
George Jacobs, Sr., was executed for witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. At the time of the trials he lived in this farmhouse in Salem Village, which is now Danvers, Mass. The house was built in 1658 and remained in the Jacobs family until sometime after the 1920s. The first photos of the house were taken in the 19th century and the last were taken by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1935 shortly before the house collapsed in 1938.
