The Oriental Leyte
The Oriental Leyte is the latest hotel property to open under The Oriental Hotels & Resorts group in 2011. It is a first class resort hotel located in the thriving town of Palo, in Leyte next to Tacloban City.
The Oriental Leyte sits on a 10 hectare expansive beach frontage known as the Red Beach, site of one of the greatest naval battles in history. The resort hotel is also adjacent to the famous MacArthur Landing Memorial, another famed historical landmark in Leyte. Famous historical personage General MacArthur’s famous “I shall return” was fulfilled in this very spot when in October 20, 1944 he landed and made good his promise to liberate the Philippines from the Japanese Imperial Forces that occupied the islands.
The historical aspects of The Oriental Leyte coupled with a very alluring beach frontage make it appeal to locals as well as international leisure and business travellers. The Oriental Leyte brings with it a sense of national history and an enclave of luxury to the modern world.
Experience pure bliss and serenity beyond your wildest dreams. Stay at The Oriental Leyte. You too shall return.

I COULD CRY - Emotional Trip To Tacloban City In The Philippines
I was close to crying a few times. Even though it has been almost four years, I had never had the chance to really explore Tacloban just as a tourist. This was my first big trip back to Leyte and Samar years after Typhoon Yolanda, and it has been a very emotional experience for me...
Here is a little bit of the time I spent in Tacloban City. The city is blooming again :)
Power On.

Mermaid Found Photo - real or fake?
Many of my billschannel tipsters have been sending me links to various stories about a dead mermaid being found.
Now depending on the report, the corpse has been found in Mexico, Belgium, and even Pakastan…
But what I want to know is, is this mermaid real or fake?
I took a closer look at the actual pictures of this thing. They show what look like a young and beautiful mermaid…
Her face looks like she might be a model - High cheek bones, big angelina jolie lips, and a nose so thin, her merman might have been a plastic surgeon.
But, unless she just passed away, it would make no sense for her face to be in this condition.
A corpse that floats in the ocean for awhile becomes very bloated. And according to the scientific American website, the body will blister and turn greenish black in a short amount of time.
But In this wide view, we are treated to skin that looks like she just came out of a spa. And another oddity is that her breasts have no nipples.
I mean, I assume Mermaids have babies… and if they do, they must breast feed in someway…But how this happen when there is no nipple?
The other photos show the lower portion of the body but there’s nothing unusual here except for the fact that there is absolutely no sign of decay on her hand. And those fingers look incredibly slender and cinderella-ish. Maybe a little too refined if you ask me.
So what are we too think of this? Is this a real mermaid or is this some kind of hoax. Well, for me, it all smells kind of fishy, so I stopped by snopes dot com to see if they had anything on it.
Sure enough there it was…. And according to snopes, anyone who had seen the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean - On stranger tides” should be familiar with pictures, because the mermaid we see in these pictures is the same one that was used in the movie.
Snopes also claims the prop was created by movie special effects king Joel Harlow
Mermaid videos and Mermaid pictures are all over the internet. They are all relateed to a mermaid found story. Some even call them mermaids caught on tape. The interest in mermaids really took off when Animal Planet released their documentary Mermaids: The Body Found.

Next time I visit my hometown again I'll try to use my drone to take videos or pictures of it's wonderful beaches and other tourist destinations. I want to see of more of my hometown and the province itself. I do hope I'll get to see more of Samar too.

McArthur Park, Palo, Leyte , Philippines
The Leyte Landing Memorial in Red Beach, Palo, marks the spot where American liberation forces of General Douglas MacArthur landed.
The Battle of Leyte in the Pacific campaign of World War II was the invasion and conquest of Leyte in the Philippines by the United States and Australian forces and allied Filipino guerrillas under the command of General Douglas MacArthur and waged against the Imperial Japanese Army in the Philippines led by General Tomoyuki Yamashita from 17 October 1944 to 31 July 1945. The battle launched the Philippines campaign of 1944-45 for the recapture and liberation of the entire Philippine Archipelago and to end almost three years of Japanese occupation.
The Battle of Leyte Gulf, also known as the Second Battle of the Philippine Sea, was the largest naval battle in modern history. It was fought in the Pacific Theater of World War II, in the seas surrounding the Philippine island of Leyte from 23 October to 26 October 1944 between the Allies and the Empire of Japan.
The Japanese attempted to repel or destroy the Allied forces stationed on Leyte after the successful Allied invasion in the Battle of Leyte. Instead, the Allied navies inflicted a serious defeat on the outnumbered Imperial Japanese Navy. The battle was the last major naval engagement of World War II.
The Battle of Leyte Gulf was actually a campaign consisting of four interrelated battles: the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea, the Battle of Surigao Strait, the Battle of Cape Enga±o and the Battle of Samar. Leyte Gulf also saw the first use of Kamikaze aircraft. A kamikaze hit the Australian heavy cruiser HMAS Australia on 21 October, and organized suicide attacks by the Special Attack Force began on 25 October.

RED BEACH IN PERIL.wmv
If you care about Mother Earth, see how Red Beach in Dulag, Leyte in the Philippines has been eroded, because a big gravel and sand business had decided to build a wharf to get cargo ships closer to land. What was once beautiful beach has been eaten away because the wharf had caused a terrible alteration of the tide movements. It's still going on today...
