Red Castle Lunan Bay Angus Scotland
Tour Scotland travel video of Red Castle on ancestry visit to Lunan Bay in Angus. The original castle was built by the Barclays, and was used by William the Lyon for hunting. Robert the Bruce gave the castle to Hugh, 6th Earl of Ross, in 1328, and it later passed to the Stewart Lord Innermeath, and then to the Beatons. The castle was last occupied by an Episcopal minister, James Rait, and the property later passed to the Guthries. The castle was apparently intact until about 1748, and partially roofed until the 1770s

Another fly around of a ruined castle. The present building is dated 1641, and was remodelled in the 19th century by William Burn. The estate was bought by Colonel H.D. Baillie in 1838 and passed into the ownership of the family of Lord Burton of Dochfour. The castle was requisitioned by the army during World War II and was finally vacated and part stripped in the 1950's.

A Scottish castle, said to be haunted by the ghost of a murdered cardinal, is now on the market - for a cool £1.65million.
The stunning Ethie Castle, near Arbroath, Angus, was once home to Cardinal David Beaton.
Beaton had a reputation for savage persecution of Protestants in the 16th Century and got his comeuppance when he was killed by Protestant nobles, who hung his body out of a window.
According to legend, the ghost of the cardinal can still be heard at night as he parades around Ethie, hindered by his gouty leg, which makes a thumping sound as he drags it behind him.
There are other spooky elements to the majestic castle, including a secret staircase to the chapel, ornate public rooms, and a walled garden.
Other amenities include tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool.

[Wikipedia] Inverkeilor
Inverkeilor is a village and parish in Angus, Scotland. It lies near the North Sea coast, midway between Arbroath and Montrose. The A92 road now bypasses the village.
The population of Inverkeilor parish in the United Kingdom Census 2001 was 972, up from 902 in 1991. The population has been accommodated in recent years by the building of new houses in the village.
Inverkeilor Primary School had an enrollment of 76 pupils at the beginning of the 2005–2006 school year, its current head teacher is Linda Cartlidge. In 2002 the school underwent refurbishment and had an extension added to the main building as well solar panels put on the roof. This also resulted in the destruction of the old prefab buildings which had been in use since the 1950s.
The parish was previously known as Conghoillis, and Watson writes that it was dedicated to a Saint Mo Chonóc of Cell Mucroisse, who may be associated with Forteviot or St Andrews, or perhaps County Wexford in Ireland.
The 12th century Red Castle built by the Barclay family is to the east of Inverkeilor, overlooking Lunan Bay. To the south-west is Ethie Castle, formerly the seat of the Earl of Northesk, which appears under the name of Knockwinnoch in Sir Walter Scott's novel The Antiquary.
Inverkeilor currently has a pub called The Chance Inn and a restaurant called Gordon's. It also has a large public park which was refurbished in 2013.

ABANDONED CASTLE (Floors fallen through)
This week the team explored the abandoned (almost complete ruin) Redcastle. Most of the floors have completely collapsed which made this explore very dangerous. A bit of a shorter video this week due to a big edit currently being in the process of being made but i hope you all enjoy it just as much. Heres some info on the castle taken from Wiki ..
Redcastle was until relatively recently one of the oldest inhabited houses in Scotland.[2] A castle on this site was first constructed by William the Lion in 1179 and was known as Edirdovar.[3] The castle was held by Sir John Bysset 1230 and in 1278 by Sir Andrew de Besco. In 1455 the Black Isle was annexed to the Crown.[4]
By 1492 the castle and its lands were under the control of Kenneth Mackenzie, 7th of Kintail, and they remained in the possession of Clan Mackenzie until 1790. The present building is dated 1641, and was remodelled in the 19th century by William Burn.[1] The estate was bought by Colonel H.D. Baillie in 1838 and passed into the ownership of the family of Lord Burton of Dochfour. The castle was requisitioned by the army during World War II and was finally vacated and part stripped in the 1950s.[5]

You can find Claypotts Castle near Dundee, and it's often referred to as Scotland's quirkiest castle. The castle itself has a strange design and it's just off a busy road.

Seaside village risks being lost at sea
(4 Jul 2019) LEAD IN:
A coastal village in the north of Wales faces being one of the first settlements to be decommissioned and evacuated due to climate change.
The villagers who live there could become Britain's first climate refugees due to rising sea levels.
STORY-LINE:
The first houses in the Welsh village of Fairbourne were built on a flood plane more than 100 years ago as a holiday destination.
The village has since become a popular abode for retirees and holidaymakers looking to enjoy the tranquillity of nature and escape the realities and stresses of everyday life.
But the reality of climate change has brought the peace and quiet enjoyed by the local residents to a crashing halt.
Several Welsh government reports have said that Fairbourne is potentially facing an insurmountable threat from the rising sea level and should be decommissioned by 2045 and the process should be completed by 2055.
Recent news reports about this issue have increased confusion and concern amongst the community.
Stuart Eves, a campsite owner and community council vice-chair, has lived in the village for more than 40 years.
While feeding his chickens at his home, he says he has not noticed a rise in tide levels on the beach and is sceptical of the report.
You walk down to the beach and you look at the sea and it still comes up to the stones like it used to and still does, he says.
You can't see a millimetre, two millimetres rise in the sea level a year. It is just an impossibility.
He questions why Gwynedd council is now saying the village will need to be evacuated by 2055.
Come and show us your figures that you're using to say the sea level is going to rise that quick in that amount of time, he adds.
At a glance, the shoreline looks several metres away from the sea wall - even at high tide- but with tidal changes and weather events this could easily change.
With the village of Fairborne deemed as a high-risk flood area, the property prices in the area have plummeted since the report was published.
Eves says, house sales have been destroyed.
Houses, lost 40 percent of their value virtually overnight. It became virtually impossible to get a mortgage.
Young people in the village, if they haven't got the cash to be able to buy a property, they couldn't buy one in - where they want to live, he explains.
And it is not only the future generations of Fairborne residents being affected by the flurry of panic.
Angela Thomason is a pensioner and clerk to the Fairbourne community council.
She says Coastal wise nobody is panicking like Gwynedd council has panicked the residents of Fairbourne into what is supposedly going to happen in 25, 30, 35 year's time, she says.
They've put us in a very uncomfortable awkward and devastating position.
Some residents feel unfairly targeted by the council's reliance on a report.
We feel uncomfortable being called the first climate refugee village. What we want is answers now. We want to know if the seawall breaches before 2045 we want to know what's going to happen to us. Where, where Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Government and Westminster are going to put us?
The Gwynedd Council says the report has placed it in uncharted territory in dealing with communities affected by rising the sea levels.
It has been liaising with residents of Fairbourne about the threats they face and offering counselling, regular town meetings and emotional support.
Williams says the only solution will be to surrender the village to the sea.
