Salerno: Raccolta e commercio illecito del corallo rosso, 10 misure cautelari
Al termine di una complessa e delicata attività investigativa coordinata dalla Procura della Repubblica presso il Tribunale ordinario di Salerno, i militari della Capitaneria di porto di Salerno hanno eseguito in data odierna dieci provvedimenti di misure cautelari nei confronti di altrettanti soggetti originari delle Province di Salerno e di Napoli, dediti alla raccolta ed alla successiva commercializzazione illecita del corallo rosso (Corallium rubrum), specie a rischio estinzione e prioritaria per la conservazione dell’intero habitat marino del Mediterraneo, il cui ciclo vitale di crescita è stimato in circa cinquanta anni. Tra le aree costiere danneggiate dall’attività illecita vi sono i siti di Punta Campanella, gli isolotti de Li Galli a Positano, lo Scoglio dell’Isca del Comune di Praiano fino a Conca dei Marini, tutti siti di interesse ambientale di riconosciuto valore naturalistico.
Il sistema escogitato dai componenti dell’organizzazione criminosa prevedeva l’impiego di bombole ed attrezzi subacquei in profondità, con metodi di raccolta distruttivi del substrato roccioso, allo scopo di immettere sul mercato illecito il prezioso bene, dissimulando l’attività di pesca abusiva dietro società formalmente costituite per la ricerca scientifica e lo sviluppo sperimentale nel campo delle scienze naturali.
A tutti i soggetti protagonisti del suddetto disegno criminoso, i militari della Guardia Costiera di Salerno hanno notificato i provvedimenti di obbligo di dimora nel Comune di residenza, misura cautelare ritenuta idonea e proporzionata ai fatti per prevenire il rischio di reiterazione delle condotte illecite. A tali misure vanno aggiunte una serie di ulteriori e specifiche prescrizioni imposte ai soggetti destinatari onde assicurare la pronta e certa reperibilità sul territorio, proprio negli orari mattutini in cui venivano svolte le immersioni in mare per defraudare i fondali dal corallo rosso.
