Uluru: Australia’s Mythic Monolith
It’s one of the most iconic sights in Australia, perhaps in the world. In the Central Desert, a vast sandstone monolith rises from an endless flat plain, its red walls changing color with the shifting sunlight. Taller than the Eiffel Tower, older than the Himalayas, and covering more area than the entire nation of Monaco, it goes by the ancient name of Uluru. Today, it is one of the most sacred places in the entire world.

Ray & Marilou (Rose) ~ Sails in the Desert' 5 Star Resort & Restaurant
Checked in for 6 days while visiting Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock) in the Northern Territory, Central Australia. Voyages in house restaurant 'The sails in the Desert' is such an exquisite restaurant that we ended up eating there for almost every single meal including breakfast each morning. In a word, Sensational just to say the least.
Thorny Devil (Moloch horridus)
Thorny Devil (Moloch horridus) is an Australian lizard. It is also known as the Thorny Dragon, Mountain Devil, Thorny Lizard, or the Moloch and is the sole species of genus Moloch. It grows up to 20 cm (8 in) in length and can live up to 20 years, coloured in camouflaging shades of desert browns and tans; these change from pale colours when warm to darker colours when cold. The species is entirely covered with conical spines that are mostly uncalcified. It also features a spiny false-head on the back of the neck, the animal presents this to a potential predator by dipping its real head. Females are larger than males. The Thorny Devil's body is ridged in structure, and enables the animal to collect water from any part of its body, which is then channelled to the mouth.

I read somewhere the very long tail allows them to remain balanced while they run on their hind legs.
