Dutch Square(Red Square) Malacca, Malaysia
The Dutch Square, also called Red Square because all the surrounding building are painted in red, next to the Melaka river is a good starting point for visiting the old part of the town.
It's also a colourfull trishaw pickup point, it is distinguished by a group of bright, terracotta-red colonial Dutch buildings, built between 1660 and 1700, with louvered windows and chunky doors with wrought iron hinges.

Red Square atau bangunan merah (disebut juga Dutch Square) merupakan kawasan kota tua yang menjadi ikon Melaka. Disebut Red Square karena karena seluruh dindingnya berwarna merah bata dengan arsitektur bergaya Eropa klasik yang masih kokoh berdiri sampai sekarang.
Di kawasan tersebut terdapat Christ Church Melaka yang berdiri sejak tahun 1753 dan Stadthuys yang berfungsi sebagai balai kota atau kantor gubernur pada masa penjajahan Belanda. Saat ini Stadthuys beralih fungsi menjadi Museum Sejarah dan Etnografi. Selain dua bangunan itu juga terdapat Victoria Fountain di depan gereja, Menara Jam Tan Beng Swee (clock tower), dan miniatur kincir angin (windmill) Belanda

In the ancient city of Melaca in southern Malaysia has many architectural attractions. One of them is Dutch or Red Square. There is a beautiful Christ Church, built in 1753, Queen Victoria Fountain. On the square you can see the brightly decorated with flowers and bells, rickshaws and drive them to other significant places of the old city.

MELAKA / MALACCA DAY TOUR: Dutch Square, Portuguese Fort & Famous Foods | Malaysia Travel
Today we spent the day exploring Melaka (or Malacca, we aren't sure the right spelling!)
This is a beautiful and historical city which could probably be done in a day trip from KL. The Portuguese fort, Dutch Square and Chinese area makes this place such a mix of cultures and colours.
We had to try the famous food of the region, so we found a restaurant that served the famous chicken rice balls we had to give them a go, and they were pretty good!
