Brewer’s blog: New beer brewed today, Wreckless, a very hoppy / aromatic 4.8% Pale, loaded with Citra and Amarillo hops, looking forward to this one, should be lovely. Think it is time to start brewing at full length rather than the 50% I’ve been running at until now. Update : Just had a quick taste of Wreckless, massive amounts of citra and amarillo tropical fruits coming through, very pleased so far.

Redwillow Brewery:
RedWillow brewery in Macclesfield was started in 2010 by Toby & Caroline after Toby decided he wanted to leave his warm and comfortable desk in London to pursue his passion for brewing and all things beer related. By pure coincidence their two children's middle names are Willow and Red which made for a very quick brainstorming session when coming up with the name of the brewery.

My home your home !
Home toron is called Macclesfield. It's in the north west of England and about 1/2 hour away from Manchester. It's 10 minutes away from a beautiful country park named the Peak District. We are known our silk as it was made in the town a long time ago. I have lived there all my life and all the people are lovely! Our favorite local pub is Red Willow. It sells a lot of locally brewed beer. We love about 10 minutes away from where a lot of the Manchester United football players live. David Beckham used to live there :)

Castlefield Artisan Market
Manchester's Market by the Canal
Once at the heart of Manchester's industrial revolution and latterly the centre of the city's renaissance as a leisure destination, Castlefield has always been a people magnet. Crossed by canals and interrupted by the occasional chug of a narrow boat, it's the perfect spot for a monthly market.
A stretch of the canal bank, usually reserved as a car park for weekday workers, can be found lined with market stalls, with craft traders sharing space with a wide range of food producers. First impressions reveal a rarity in urban markets -- it's one that you could do nearly your entire weekly shop at, presenting as it does a range of fresh vegetables, locally made bread, meats, pies, pastries and soups.
It's no ordinary shopping experience, and Paul's Smalls is one such stall that brings an innovative spin on tried and tested recipes to make it more memorable. Empanadas are a smaller, South American version of our bulky pasties, perhaps suited to warmer climates where baked stodge is less welcome. Paul, who travelled from Sale only a few miles down the road combines the delicacy of smaller pastries with robust fillings like 'Pigs 'n' Blankets' (sausage, bacon and caramelised onion chutney) and a good old 'Beef and Cheshire Ale'.
Exotic flavours, such as 'Marrakesh Lamb Express' are available too, so taking advantage of his pick n' mix offers means combining something tried and tested with an abundance of new and interesting flavours.
The Great North Pie Company does what it says on the tin. Boldly holding business together under grey (summer) skies, trading in hearty looking pies made in the region to exacting specifications. Beautifully, and simply, presented, proprietor and baker Neil Broomfield need do no more than show of the golden brown wares and people gather round to inspect them. Pulling in ingredients from around the region, including Macclesfield's ales for his 'Steak and Red Willow Ale' pie, there are no surprises in these pies, just great quality fillings.
The market's organiser's Asif and Jodie Farakhan, trade on the market themselves, bringing home made curries to Manchester shoppers, while international flavours can also be found on stalls selling contemporary Greek cuisine, Italian deli foods and prepared meals and more Indian street food with Atam's samosas and kebabs.
Like many of Manchester's markets, traders from further a field make short journeys to take advantage of the city centre trade, and Blackburn's Foodie Pots bring with them a range of home-made soups that are lovingly made from local produce in Lancashire. Flavours such as Mexican Bean make for a warming treat on a cold day, with hot samples available to all and cold pots of each flavour available to take home for reheating. To go with the soup. Of Crust and Crumb Artisan Bakery, from Delph, were present with an array of perfectly formed loaves.
This monthly market, taking place on the first Sunday of every month, is one of the best in town. Catch it on a day when the weather is hospitable and enjoy a drink outdoors while considering your day's purchases.
