St John's Antigua Cruise Port Tour (4K)
Tour the Antigua Cruise Port Terminal area at St John's. We were on the MSC Divina cruise ship docked at the Heritage Quay terminal along with the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas. If you are looking for things to do other than shopping- we took a short taxi ride to visit the nearby Fort James beach (see our video here: ), then walked around the port area, which included the historic Redcliff Quay Cruise Pier where the Seven Seas Explorer and the Pullmantur Zenith were docked.
There are plenty of nice views out towards the cruise ships. It is also a lively scene with local Antiguan performers singing, dancing, and even doing the Limbo while on fire, and spitting fire, lol.
There were a ton of shops & restaurants/bars at port including Diamonds International (surprise suprise), Fred's Belgian Waffles & Ice Cream, Big Banana, St Johns Antigua Harbour View Bar & Cafe plus much more. There was even a casino (King's Casino).
As an added bonus, we included our cruise ship sail-away from Antigua video- enjoy!
This was from our December 2017 cruise aboard the MSC Divina.
A Day in Antigua ~ Join us as we leave the cruise port and travel around the island.
Antigua has a beautiful port with a lot of shops and many locals offering tours of the island.
Cruise passengers disembark into beautiful Heritage Quay, which has shops and a tourist office, and then straight into St John’s, a small bustling Caribbean town. Redcliffe Quay is nearby with more shops and restaurants.
Antigua is a beautiful island in the West Indies (West Indies is what will show up on your phone as your location while visiting) and is one of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean.
Locals claim there are 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. No one knows for sure if this is true but it makes for a great marketing.
The best way to see the island is to take a tour
The cost of the our tour of the island (about 6 hours) was $20. Yep, we had an amazing day for only $20 plus a nice tip for our driver who made this one of the best excursions ever.

Caribbean | Leeward Islands | Antigua (Land of 365 Beaches)
Antigua was the 6th port of call on the Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Carnival Glory. The vast quantities of beaches on the island have earned it the nickname Land of 365 Beaches.
We took a short tour on the Island which first visited Nelson's Dockyard; there is an interesting tour of the dockyward which is rich with history, but I haven't included it on the video- partly because there was excessive wind noise drowning out the guide.
To relax we headed over to Mystic beach which is normally frequented by locals, but was quiet at the time of our visit due to it being during working hours. There was a quiet bar where you could grab some light food and a cocktail (or more!). I'd recommend a visit as the beach was quiet and a very relaxing place to unwind without the usual hassles that are associated with more popular tourist beaches.
Before heading back on-board the ship, we walked around St. John's but most of the shops are typically located around the cruise terminal at Heritage and Redcliffe Quay. The shops vary from those selling the usual tourist centric products- t-shirts etc to tax-free designer outlets.
There was definetly more to Antigua that would warrant a second, longer visit as we did not have a chance to see all of the island.

ANTIGUA
The beach is just the beginning.
Antigua has an amazing 365 strands of sand, giving visitors a different choice for every day of the year. Begin your exploration at Nelson’s Dockyard. Part of a national park, it’s the only existing Georgian naval dockyard in the world, built in 1725 and once England’s most important naval outpost in the Caribbean. Along the waterfront, buildings are signposted with their dates of origin and former uses, from the Sawpit Shed to the Copper and Lumber Store. In the erstwhile Naval Officer’s House, a museum gives the history of the area. The dockyard comes alive in April with Antigua’s annual Sailing Week. More than 1,500 sailors compete in this high-speed competition that makes a roundtrip from Dockyard to Dickenson Bay and back. April also features the Classic Yacht Regatta: traditional craft built of wood and steel make this a show that’s more about beauty than speed. American Sailing Week is a June event filled with instructional clinics, races and day sails.St. John’s, the island’s animated main town, rises from the harbor, backed by a twin-spired cathedral. Visit the Antigua and Barbuda Museum and view artifacts like ancient stone pendants and flint knives, displays on cassava, and for sports lovers the cricket bat of Sir Vivian Richards, a beloved island athlete. Stop in Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine for a moment’s respite. At Redcliffe Quay, a series of historic buildings have been transformed into a little retail village. Originally a slave-trading yard, the buildings were used by merchants and innkeepers after emancipation. In the countryside, almost a hundred towers that are the remnants of Antigua’s sugar mills dot the countryside where over 150 sugar-producing plantations once stood. At Betty’s Hope, founded in the 1650s, twin mills have been restored to working condition. If it’s utter peace and quiet you’re after, then head to drowsy Barbuda, the lesser-known of the two islands. It feels untouched by progress, with the principal inhabitants being the graceful frigate birds. Take a boat ride through the Frigate Bird Sanctuary in Codrington Lagoon and see these unique birds, which spend most of their time in the air because they can’t walk or swim. On Barbuda, you’re unlikely to see more than a dozen other human beings during your repose.
